Best WLM Reviews

The waitress Chloe was fantastic. The brisket, ribs and pulled pork were good. The beans were great.
All in all I’d go back.
If I had one critique it would be that I did not get that Smokey smell upon entering the restaurant. I also enjoy seeing the smoker which was not visible from the inside or outside of the restaurant.
Fried tater bites appetizer don’t pass it up. Never had a bad meal here (10+) staff is friendly and hard working. Owners have the interest of small town folks at their best keeping prices affordable in a world full of inflation. Beautiful drive there and take the back way always. Specials brisket sandwiches cannot be beat.
Cornbread is on point! The food was yummy, the environment cozy/rustic vibe. The staff was super friendly. This was our first time dining here, and everyone has been harassing us to check it out. So we officially have and say ???? it's well worth the visit. We will be back! Also the mashed potatoes were amazing, I mean what else do you need.
No messing around here. This place has got some wonderful BBQ. We ate here and loved every bite. They have a great menu . Very good variety. No one can come here and not find something delicious to eat. And the pulled pork sandwiches are huge! I haven't found a single menu item I didn't like. They have it all. We have already started recommending it to our friends. This is a place you could enjoy eating at every day. Great staff and the place was clean as can be. Very nice atmosphere. This is not a place to pass by. Come hungry !!! We highly recommend you visit them here. Your tummy will thank you!
This was our first trip to Black Bear BBQ - and yes, we will definitely be back! I have never seen my husband enjoy ribs more than he did today! They were perfect. The chicken and dumplings were great, service was good, restaurant clean and friendly.
Can we take a trip off the beaten path for this review? Black Bear BBQ is nestled in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. Right in Appalachia, VA. We had the Bourbon Brisket Sandwich with fries and a Loaded BBQ Baked Potato. Both did not disappoint. We did have a little wait BUT worth it! We may be making this one of our new favs.
Id heard this place was decent but i heard wrong! Took 10 minutes to get seated with no one else at the door. Another 15 minutes for anyone to take our order. Food came out fairly quick. I had a brisket sandwich. Once i opened the sandwich i found two tiny slices of brisket i mean less than 3oz. I waited to ask the server if this was all i got for $13 and if so could i order more brisket to put on it. No server ever came back. Got tired of waiting after 10 minutes or so and ate the sandwhich, id tell you how the brisket was but there was so much more bun than meat all i tasted was bread. My drink was almost empty when i got my food and stayed empty long after we finished eating. Never did get checked on by a server. Went to the register and waited another 10 minutes for somone (the owner) to finally ring us up. When i informed him id not be returning to his establishment his response was a dirty look of indifference. Servers looked burried with an only half full dining room and seemed to work very ineficiently making trip after trip to the same table instead of making rounds as they should Poorly managed. Poor service. There were plenty of chances along the way to make our experience there a decent one and this place missed them all
Paid $50 for two brisket meals and the best thing on the whole thing was the baked beans. The brisket was dry over seasoned and the fries were soggy. Was one of the worst barbecue meals I’ve ever eaten.
