During a visit to Tampa, I saw the smoke. I smelled the food. And I was hungry! I stopped into BJ's Alabama BBQ with hopes of consuming some "backyard" family bbq! They did not disappoint! Not only was the customer service over-the-top, but the food was hot, good amount and tasted great. If you're in the area and want a good BBQ spot without all the drama of a chain restaurant, I'd highly recommend you check out this spot. I'll definitely be back!
Best bbq in Tampa hands down! So glad we stopped. Super smoky chicken, tender pork and beef. Highly recommend the collards with some corn bread and hot sauce smashed together ???? Reminds me of some good family cook outs ???? stellar customer service ????????
Just like Grandma made home cooking. Beef, pork, chicken and ribs smoked slow. All the sides are home made. Greens, potato salad, green beans and Mac n cheese. Recommend a thousand times over.
1st off the service was fantastic, young Lady at front was very nice and welcoming. But as for the food…… not so much. I asked for 1/2 chicken and 1/2 slab of ribs. She said that they were out of chicken, but then asked if I wanted dark instead. I agreed, but when I arrived home I realized I got a dry —non eatable, and a small leg quarter. The ribs were ok at best, but the chicken was disrespectful.
Just like many of the reviews said, my family of 5 was visiting Tampa, Florida (after a trip to the aquarium) and we stumbled upon this interesting restaurant with a humongous smoker outside. We immediately rolled down the windows and smelled the most amazing smoky smell!!! My husband and I turned to one another and said, “ We have to try this.” Well… It didn’t disappoint! the moment I walked through the door I got the most pleasant welcome from the nicest and happiest woman! I told her how we stumbled upon this restaurant and asked if they have gluten-free options l. To my surprise almost everything is gluten-free because it’s all homemade with natural ingredients (that are a family tradition). My family, ordered 2 sampler platters and EVERYTHING was fantastic! We went back to our hotel and put out a spread of what we all called a southern Thanksgiving meal in May! The home cooked taste was unforgettable and we could immediately tell everything from the smoked meat to the string beans and potato salad was made with love and pride! Thank you BJ’s Alabama bbq for giving us a true southern experience during our Florida vacation! This place is a must! I recommend trying everything (the sampler)!! I’d give it 10 stars if I could!!!

Not your typical fast food BBQ. This BBQ is as backyard family style as you can get. Nothing fancy on the inside, the food is the centerpiece! Lastly, the lady at the front counter is so friendly. She makes everyone feel welcome. ** Pro tip- tell em you want the sauce on the side, not on the meat.
The customer service is amazing, they make you feel welcomed, and it let you know they appreciate your business! Now the food!!! Is soo good! I had the pork, and beef which is tender and flavorful! My sides were bake beans and collard greens! This reminded me of home! You can feel the love in the food! If you are looking for great food, great service,& getting your money’s worth, stop in!!!
