Highly recommend the almond soup with the pastry puff top. Was absolutely delicious. Lots of seating inside, perfect for groups both big and small. The service was fairly fast and the food arrived quickly after ordering. Waiting time did vary per dish though. When we dined there for lunch, there was no wait and we were able to be seated right away.
Well we're back at this restaurant again, last time we ate here was last year when they were nearly open. Service is good food is good everything seems to be the same except the price is a little higher but what else can you do. If you're not tried it come and check it out for yourself I recommend it.
Came here on a Sunday while there was an NFL playoffs going on and they had it playing on every TV as well as a projector. I can’t think of another dim someplace that I’ve ever been able to watch football at.
We got seated for a party of five immediately at 2 PM, they were not sold out of any dishes that we ordered.
On a busy Sunday afternoon, my family decided to come here for lunch. Although the restaurant was quite busy with 10 parties ahead of us, we were pleasantly surprised to be seated within just 30 minutes. Now, let me tell you about the highlight of our meal – the dimsums! They were absolutely divine, deserving of a perfect 5-star rating. While the other main dishes were also quite enjoyable, the real star of the show was the quick and efficient service we received throughout our dining experience. As for the tea, it was decent, but I must admit it didn't quite reach the level of excellence as the rest of our meal.
The ambiance/ sound is a typical dim sum restaurant a bit too noisy. The decor is simple and pretty. What I like most is the dim sum comes out piping hot. The service is pretty on point too. I have already made a reservation for tomorrow dim sum, bringing my extended family to try it out.
What a pleasant surprise to have quality dim sum here. Shrimp with rice noodles was out of the world. Shrimp was fresh and rice noodles were silky smooth. Don't forget the shui mai and ha gow. They were both very good! Beef tribes was good but it need more wok time. It was just lacking flavor. Overall food was 3.5 to 4 Stars
Service was great
Atmosphere was...
Very very noisy. There was a party going on in one of the rooms and balloons were popping every few minutes. It was a very unpleasant experience.
One of our new favorite dim sum place in the SGV. The food is served quickly and tastes very good. We loved the turnip cake and shumai. Come hungry as all the dishes are well worth ordering.
Bistro 1968 has a few interesting and really special dishes. We had stewed crab congee, crispy lobster roll, duck, bbq pork, crispy pork belly, golden shrimp shumai, yellow shrimp shumai, pork shumai, bbq pork bao, snow cap bbq pork bao, abalone tart, rice wrapped in bana leaves... It was pretty good, definitely not run of the mill. Standouts included the crab congee and the snow capped bao. I've never seen or tasted a snow cap bao. I should have ordered 12 to go. The breading was airy, slightly sweet baked, just the correct ratio between bread and filling. Delicious! My five-star rating could be based on this alone. The service was fine. It was a little spendy, but the crab congee ($68) was enough to feed 12, and had a whole Dungeness crab in it. The flavor and the uniqueness of the dish was worth it.
