Best WLM Reviews
Big Sam's has the feel of an old fishing shack. The place is old, rustic, and right on the inlet. Surrounded by the smell of great seafood, we chose to indulge in some tasty drinks. Wonderful staff! Reasonable drink prices. Outdoor area to enjoy. Easy access, plenty of parking. It was an authentic beach experience.
Cute little spot! Reasonable portions and reasonable price; if you go during the summer you'll probably have to wait a bit, but they have seating outside that you can use until it's your time. Waitress was very nice!
We went there for dinner. Went around 5pm so there was no wait. They have great sweet tea. We ordered their chicken wings, steamed clams, steamed oysters, steamed shrimp, the fresh raw tuna sushi, and oysters rockafeller. To start, their wings are the BEST wings we have had in the area. They taste crispy, hot and fresh. They have 1.50 wings during “tiki hour” and you have to get increments of 6. Tbh you aren’t really getting that great of a deal far as price because even during happy hour they are 9.00 for 6. They come with celery and homemade ranch. A full order on the regular menu is 18.99 so you only save .99 if you order 12.
Next, the steamed clams were little neck and good. No complaints. The oysters were sooo small they were about the size of a nickel. lol. And one was about the size of a dime. I couldn’t believe they would even serve them.
Hubby said the tuna was very fresh and taste great. Good seaweed and wasabi.
The oysters rock we actually sent back because they had a terrible taste on the first one. Oysters rock is one of my favorite appetizers and I get it just about every place that has them, these were gross. (Sorry for saying this) but they were. They had large chunks of onion in them. Spinach that was barely warm and very tasteless. And they just threw some white cheese on top and cooked it. This restaurant is so good but they NEED to re-think their Rock recipe.
Lastly, their steamed shrimp. We had 3 orders of them. They were great! Steamed great. Nice size. Homemade cocktail and drawn butter. We will def be back!!
Love this place. Great breakfast at the marina. Loved the biscuits and gravy but the pancakes stole the show. Soft and doughy on the inside and crispy on the outside. We will be back.
Highly recommended by three people, and now so do I. Everything was excellent! Crab balls, steamed seafood, salmon with mustard sauce, mashed potatoes and asparagus. All very good. And it heated up beautifully for lunch the next day.
If I could give 0 stars for service I would. Our waitress never came back to check on us once she took our order. I understand that they may have been shorthanded but she was attentive to other customers while completely ignoring us. The other waitress asked the people at the table in front of us and behind us several times if they were OK and never even looked our way. We had to go to the counter and ask for the bill when we were done eating. As much as we like leaving nice tips we didn't feel like the waitress deserved a tip so we didn't leave one. We will not be returning.
Best pancakes I’ve ever had. They are as big as your plate. We ate breakfast there every morning for the same $ as McD’s. Unless you have a Mimosa or Bloody Mary! Big Sam’s is a quirky little cafe, walls of windows, uneven floors with a casual off beat attitude. Wait staff is friendly. If you like quirky instead of uniform chain places, come here.
a bit crowded, yet you can easily taste why – it was the crab balls for me. can’t go wrong with anything here though, big yums !
