Best WLM Reviews

We recently stayed at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel for a wedding and overall we were happy with our experience! The location was perfect, as it was right on the water with many cool spots to go to for food, drinks, and entertainment, like Stone Pony. The service at the hotel was very good, from valet and maintenance to the front desk. We had our newborn daughter with us and they were very accommodating with giving us a crib and extra trash bags. We felt welcomed from when we arrived because all the workers were friendly and attentive! We enjoyed the size of the room we stayed in, the view, and the beds were very comfortable. Some updates to the room would have made our stay even better (i.e. our curtains were in older condition with patches that were worn, and our shower drain was not super effective), but we would definitely still stay at this hotel again!
low expectations due to all the negative reviews. hotel is under new management, completely renovated. clean and modern. great location. ignore reviews that predate this month. room was large and quiet considering two events at the hotel during our weekend stay. no restaurant just a grab and go cafe but pale whale and stella marina were both great.||special kudos to Laura, the general manager for her kind assistance to my 93 year old hubby.
I am extremely disappointed in my stay at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel. I stayed on a Saturday night for a wedding and paid about $400 for the night. I asked for early check-in and was told when I arrived on the premises that early check-in was an additional $25. For the amount of money the room cost, this is ridiculous - especially given it was the off-season and not the summer season. The doors in the room did not close all the way and the iron was completely unusable (it was leaking an incredible amount). The room was outdated and the screens on the window looked to be cut. Furthermore, around 4PM (the listed check-in time), my significant other arrived for the wedding and was told that there was no more space in valet parking, despite it being an additional $40/day. He was instructed to find street parking, which was difficult with the festival in progress.
I completely understand that this is an up and coming area. However, this hotel is subpar for the prices they charge.
This hotel is so nice. It’s not the newest place, but very nice a clean. Great staff, very accommodating with all of your needs. I can’t comment on the food because I didn’t eat here. But just the whole vibe of being right on the Boardwalk is really cool. The Deluxe rooms are so spacious and comfortable. I highly recommend staying here if you’re in the neighborhood.
Great hotel. Gorgeous view. Be prepared to pay $100 for a couple over the price you pay online for some kind of resort fee. Parking is $70 per night. Can park on the street right in front for less. Pretty expensive for the night for us. Nice staff helped us with a safety pin and a band aid.
We checked into the hotel at night and checked out early in the morning. We paid the fee through the app. Upon check-out, they charged us 35 dollars for coffee and tea, which we did not use and were not informed about at all. They brought us here to ask if you could use it. Moreover, the staff at the door entrance showed us strange discrimination when opening the door to the girls who came to the door, while not opening the door. he looked
Disgusting motel at 5 Star Manhattan boutique prices. Almost $500 (breakfast not included, $90 to park an SUV) for an ocean view room overlooking sad dilapidated buildings with filthy mattress. DO NOT look under the bed sheets or you won't be able to sleep. Ugly building, hallways that smell like a cheap apartment, the Overlook Hotel vibes (sans the class) - absolutely nothing about this place is appealing, except the proximity to the ocean. That's what lack of competition looks like. Never again.
Five days before my January stay (and due to COVID), I asked if I could change my reservation to February dates. They wouldn't change it without official documentation of a positive test result (I guess an at-home test means nothing...) or a doctor's note. I wasn’t asking for a full refund or discount... just to change the dates. I ended up having to cancel my two-night stay altogether, and they charged me the first night plus taxes. ||||I read the fine print when I booked... The hotel charges 50% for any cancellations or modifications within 7 days of the stay. I even thought at the time, "I really hope I don't have to change my travel plans because this cancelation policy is terrible." But I rolled the dice anyhow since the price seemed reasonable for the location. Shame on me. In the future, I won't make this same mistake again. I'll be booking a hotel with decent guest service and reasonable cancellation policies (preferably 24-48 hours), even if it costs me more. I'd rather pay a bit more and get better customer service.
