The girls and I got together to get food and do karaoke. When I arrived I parked on the street around the corner. Parking isn't the best in the area. I walked in and was greeted and found our table. The restaurant is byob, so the supervisor opened my wine. Tina was our server, and she was cool. For my meal, I ordered the shrimp & yellow rice with a side of macaroni and cheese and kale.
While we waited for our food, we started to sing karaoke, and it was an absolute blast! When the food came out, it looked delicious. It tasted delicious, too! I really enjoyed every bit of my food, including the kale. The bill was affordable, and gratuity was included. I had a good time!
Food looked much better than it tasted. There was a pretty good wait (20 -25 mins) considering it was only us and one more table. I ordered turkey wings. I assumed they'd be slow roasted or baked/smothered. They were fried with gravy on top. They seriously lacked flavor. I had to send my two sides of yellow rice and collards back bc they were cold. I'm typing this as I wait for them to be heated up and as the rest of my food gets cold ???? The waiter definitely forgot about reheating them. I had to ask for them. My boyfriend ordered catfish, yellow rice and potato salad. It came with one piece of catfish for $22. The best thing was the lemonade. I'm highly disappointed overall. Slow service, flavorless food especially for the price. I'm from South Carolina. I know soul food, this AIN'T it. I will not be returning nor recommending this spot.
I ordered Uber Eats, the jumbo shrimp with two sides of mashed potatoes which looked and smelled rancid. The shrimp was way too salty, and the candied yams were ok but overly sweet! Banana pudding is usually delicious, however, the presentation was disappointing and it was a bit chalky. Overall, I didn't enjoy the meal and had to toss it, a complete waste! A low vibrational plate of high blood pressure and diabetes!

First time trying this place. I like to try and support small black-owned businesses when I can, but when I do I'm often disappointed. For the prices I was charged most of the food was underwhelming. I ordered the "lump" crab cakes with mac and potato salad. The mac was beyond dry to say the least(pics to follow). I also ordered the lobster roll which had a very strong fishy smell to it. Not used to that from fresh seafood. Me and my wife went to an actual seafood restaurant and I smell more fish from this roll than I did from the actual seafood restaurant. My wife ordered the henny wings with collards and mac. Her mac was just as dry as mines with the collards being bland and the wings being just barely passed cooked for consumption. The only winner was the lobster mac and cheese. Other than that I don't think I will be giving this place another try especially not with the quality of food for the prices they charge.
I came here last year for my birthday and the food was great. I had 20 people come with me and everyone got something different everyone loved everything. The prices were great. Recently I ordered from ubereats and got the salmon Rasta pasta and it was delicious, I’m about to order again right now.
Nice new spot in Newark. Had the Bentley BBQ burger and the Mac n Cheese. Both were delicious! BYOB is a nice touch though as the end of the night was approaching, the wait staff discarded some drinks that weren't finished. Would be nice to assume that if people are still around the table, even if they are dancing & mingling, that they want to finish their drinks.
Other than that small hiccup, it was a decent night of food & dance! Will definitely be back to try more of their menu items.
This was one of the best take-out orders and experiences that I've EVER had!
The food was neatly packed, fresh, hot, and BANGIN'! I'll definitely try to dine-in, next time I'm passing through.
The 1st time I ordered it was good but not great. The crab cakes were seared just a bit too much. But I had to give them another try and OMG! So glad I did. I knew they were good but the crab cakes were perfectly seared and absolutely delicious! This place may be the place where I gain my quarantine weight lol I can't wait to try everything on their menu. 1st pic is the 1st time vs last night. YUM! YUM! YUM!
