Staff was pleasant enough. I asked for a recommendation because it had been a long day. My server recommended a chicken dish from the special menu, said it was a lightly battered chicken dish in wine sauce. I know better to order a special, but I'd been driving all day. I asked for vegetables instead of pasta. The chicken was coated in something, but whatever it was, was turned to complete soggy mush. The sauce was ok, but because the coating on the chicken was so mushy it made it inedible. It was like they had left over chicken Parm from last week they threw in a microwave and put some watery sauce on it. The roasted potatoes had no seasoning and the brussel sprouts tasted like they were boiled in shrimp water. Super disappointed. I ate two bites of my chicken, two pieces of brussel sprouts and ate bread. Server asked if she could get me something else instead when she took the plate and noticed I had not eaten very much but I'm tired and over it. Best part! Still charged me full price for the meal ????????????????????????.
Hosts were inviting as we walked in; waitress was amazing!! Suggested a few specials, which we went with and they were great! This was the chicken special over linguine. Highly recommend ???????? oh and the tiramisu was best I’ve had in a while I would’ve gotten another one if it wasn’t $10 lol
Can I give 50 stars instead of 5? This place is UNBELIEVABLE. I was startled at first for the small size of the sitting area, as I struggle with small places but it wasn't crowded and that made me feel more at ease.
The décor is outstanding and you feel in every detail the love that put this place together. The homemade food is otherworldly delicious and I wasn't hungry but ate every last bite. I can't wait to go back. The service is so personal and authentic, their handwritten menu for daily specials is the cutest thing and I wish ALL restaurants in the world were as good as this is one.
So nice, we went twice. The first time, we ordered off the menu. The names I can't say well. One was a pork tenderloin with onions in a white wine sauce. The other was tortellini with cheese cream sauce. They paired wonderfully together. The second time, we chose everything off the specials menu. A grilled portobello appetizer, chicken Risotto, and lobster ravioli with saffron cream sauce.
My family and I literally adore this little hole in the wall. It is so amazing and adorable inside. My waitress, Christine was so kind, friendly, and efficient. I recommend making a reservation, especially on a Friday or Saturday night. We will be back every single time we visit Salem!!!
An intimate setting in a charming trattoria on Essex in Salem. The food was really quite good, and fresh ingredients were put together for a great wedding anniversary meal.
One of the best spots in Salem. This cozy trattoria has world class Italian, great daily specials, and an excellent wine and drink list. The service is great and friendly. They do not rush you, but check just the right amount. Outdoor dining available in the summer. A real gem.
One of two things have happened at this once great restaurant. Either the Owners have sold the restaurant or the Chef has quit. Tonights meal was pedestrian. Very bland. This place was always beyond great so something most definitely has happened, yet they have the same menu? Its is the end of a great restaurant. RIP
