Family of 7, we went here for graduation. It was our server's first day. She was friendly and did a good job even when she also was sat with a 13 top. What she didn't know she went and asked which I appreciated. The food and wine was very good. The somalier gave us a quick lesson on wine legs. We all had a good time.
My girlfriend and I came here on a whim and ended up loving Bella Notte. Jena was our server, gave us great recommendations, kept my drink full, and was very attentive. The food was absolutely delightful and, as someone from Phoenix who is tired of substandard Italian restaurants all over the place, this restaurant represents amazing value. We'll definitely be back if we're in town again. Thanks so much for the wonderful lunch!
On a Saturday afternoon, while shopping with my wife, the Fat Man thought some Italian food was what this day called for. So, we found ourselves at Bella Notte off Nicholasville Road in Lexington, Kentucky. Bella Notte offers rustic Italian trattoria known for its wood-fired meats, freshly baked bread, pasta, and wines.
We started with Meatballs al Forno. They were topped with arrabiata sauce, mozzarella & provolone cheese and served with homemade ciabatta bread. The meatballs were moist, flavorful, and tender; they melted in your mouth. The arrabiata marinara is chunky with great acid and pleasant heat, while the provolone is melted well and has an excellent stretch. The bread had a good char and butter level, and it paired well with the sauce.
We split a Caesar Salad. The salad dressing is creamy with a tang, and the amount of dressing is spot on. The croutons offer great crunch and texture to the salad, which comes with shaved Parmesan cheese. My only knock is I would have liked more cheese.
My wife ordered the Penne Gorgonzola with grilled chicken, bacon, sun-dried tomatoes, crushed red chilies, and gorgonzola cream sauce. The noodles were cooked perfectly but still had a good chew. The bacon crunch and chew were excellent, as was the salt level. The chicken was tender and flavorful, while the sun-dried tomatoes offered a sweet note that cut through the heavy, delicious, creamy sauce that coats the dish magnificently.
I went with Chicken Parmesan, which comes with hand-breaded chicken, mozzarella and provolone cheese, basil, spaghetti, and marinara. The noodles were cooked al dente, and the marinara was chunky, adding a good salt level. The breading on the chicken was crunchy and flavorful. The chicken was tender and juicy; it had excellent flavor.
We also split the Crispy Brussels sprouts with cayenne pepper honey and parmesan. The Brussels were tender with a good chew, the honey was sweet, but there was little heat, and the Parmesan adds saltiness to the dish.
Bella Notte has a full bar and an extensive menu with all your Italian favorites. The waitress was phenomenal. The Fat Man says that Bella Notte is Fat Man Approved with 3 chins.

This is a great date spot for some elevated food and service. I would recommend making a reservation ahead of time. Our service was very fast (about 1.5hrs till close) and the food was good.
My friend and I come here VERY OFTEN. So, let's just let that be said. I'm informed.
I love certain things about Bella Notte. For one, the service is great. Their seasonal desserts are phenomenal, and their plating is immaculate (see picture of cake).
I also appreciate that they prioritize local ingredients. And I like their half off wine bottles deal on Thursdays. ????
The food itself is an easy crowd pleaser. A little expensive for the portions, imo, and not exactly inspired... but if you like Italian food, you'll probably leave happy.
I wish their rotating seasonal menu had more vegetarian options. But, all in all, their selection isn't bad. Vegans might have a hard time eating off the menu, but again, the service is great so I'm sure they could figure something out for you.
I have been going to this restaurant on a regular basis for 5 years now. And they are the definition of consistent. The wait staff is lovely. The food is impeccable. The atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. I love the decorations as well. Everything from the appetizers to the entrees and the desserts are all top notch. The seasonal specials are always changing and always dynamic. I cannot recommend this place enough. Please, keep up the good work and know that your efforts are noticed.
Celebrated my birthday last month here and it was my first visit. Food was superb from the wine selection to dessert! Service was wonderful! Definitely made my "top go to" places here in Lexington.
