This restaurant is a good way out when you're going to spend the day at the lake or the pools and come home unprepared without food for the whole gang.
Unfortunately, their stock and variety are small. However, the food and sandwiches typical of the Dominican Republic were delicious.
The filet with fries and the flambéed pineapple are champions. I also recommend the cheeseburger. Delicious.
We were passing through Idaho hot spring hopping in mid April 2017. Bear Lake was on our schedule. The website says they are open 7 days a week. The phone goes straight to a recording saying to leave your name and number for summer reservations. Since it was the off season and the other springs we'd stopped at were open and had no problems with availability for camping. We "assumed" bear lake would be no exception. It is in a very remote location, which would have not been an issue had we not been towing a rig and had we been able to relax and enjoy some springs. While we were stopped we did have a look around. There is a big indoor pool that was in major disrepair and don't see how it would be ready to open for the 2017 season.
In judging by the facilities please make a better informed decision than we did. Save yourself extra time on the road. On a bright note bear lake in general was beautiful. But it was a long scenic route we would have avoided had we known what we known now.
I spent another fabulous weekend here. Myself and a group of family and friends have been coming here for years and I have to say NOT EVER have we been treated poorly. I know that food is more expensive when on vacation so I wasn't shocked at $6.00 for a cheeseburger. What I was shocked at is how BIG, juicy and delicious it was and there were more fries than 3 people could eat ..... The staff in all aspects from the store, camp patrol, beach patrol and the gals that were cooking were very out of the way friendly and kind.
I find it sad to read some of the bad reviews and can't help but think the people who wrote them did not follow the rules and got caught. Any ways, thank you once again, I love this place and hope you are are around for many, many more years, the thought of Condos or Hotels going in and ruining the place we love makes me sad!!
Thanks again!!!!
We have been coming here for the last 4 years and have always used the same open campground spot. The owners were great and very helpful, we had good neighbors, not to close and not too loud. Access to the beach is always easy and the bathrooms were remarkably well kept for as many people that use them.
We will definitely be back next year!
If I could give 0 stars I definitely would. Our family just stayed for this weekend and our expirience was horrible. The girl we spoke to on the phone told us it would be $40 for our stay and we ended up paying $80 per tent! When we tried to figure it out in the office with her she was very rude giving attitude the whole time. Once we had settled in and set everything up we saw there were only dirty porta potties available for us to use. The worst part about the whole trip was the staff. The man who was driving his ATV around was very disrespectful. He kept telling us to keep quiet. Even told us to whisper, mean while the group next to us were screaming and he had nothing to say. When we brought up that he was singling us out he replied "you wanna play the race card with me? Because I can make a call and kick you out!" Needless to say this was by far the worst camping site we have ever been to and we will not be coming back.
If I could put 0 stars, I would! Staff is very rude and unprofessional. I have never been treated with such disrespect. I use to believe people's word meant something but after dealing with the staff at Bear Lake Hot springs I recommend everyone get a copy of everything you sign and any promises the staff makes should be in writing. Also the guy on the atv was very rude and lied to my face more than once about the camp spot we paid money for! And went as far as to call me crazy! He treats people like they are just dollar signs and inferior to him. This place is also overcrowded and overpriced. Their are plenty of great campground just a couple miles up the road half the price and not as crowded.
A little rain but still beautiful.
The cost to camp is cheap. The sites are small so you'll be close to your neighbor. Pack everything you might need since the store is really expensive. $2 for a Hershey bar, $7 for sunscreen, etc.
But for the access to the beach, which is within walking distance, it's worth the price. My family and I love this place.
