Best WLM Reviews
This is your typical Chinese style cafe. Wait can be awhile when crowded. Food is good, reasonable priced and portions. Gets noisy. They like to get you in and out quickly.
Good food, great value and friendly service! Lunch special until 6pm. I alway order take out before 6 for dinner. Extra large 36oz drink for only $2.50 with food order. Highly recommended.
I was coldly greeted by a young Asian man in his 20s. I felt as if he was rude. Once I sat down to enjoy my drink, the server took away all the plates and silverware from the table. Next, the menu said FREE REFILL. So I requested a refill for my drink , an HK lemon ice tea. He ripped the plastic top open. I asked him of he could put a new layer of plastic on top of the cup, he said no. I felt like the customer service was poor and I feel like it was racially motivated.
Bay Island continues to be a good choice for your Hong Kong Style cafe. With familiar Cantonese dishes, they are still a local favorite as seemingly there is a small resurgence.
Their menu is very complete with noodles, stir fry, clay pots, and some nice traditional entrees. Rice is served plenty without that single bowl service that other restaurants annoying do.
Drinks however are served in plastic disposables, but you can't enforce environmentally friendly practices everywhere.
The service is typical and fast. The value is exceptional along with Cantonese flavors that are not overly seasoned.
Very good takeout experience. Got my order 15 minutes after placing my order. Everything was well packed. The food was delicious and pretty inexpensive. We had plenty of leftovers for lunch the next day too.
Worst hk style cafe in LA. Rude service and not good food. The rating tricked me. I asked for red bean ice. They gave me a red bean ice which is unsweetened. I ask them what happened they just give me syrup. I then take the ice out and then it’s sweet. The aunty is so rude, she still put syrup into although i said no. 乾炒牛河 is not good either. I think any hk style cafe have better 乾炒牛河 than this spot. I will never come to this place ever.
Great food. Service is adequate, and the ambiance is loud.
The restaurant was Poppin with people packed. Obviously it's a people favorite but my rating is based on the customer service . They were lunch rush busy but lacked the greeting aspect . Didn't acknowledge me until I approached a waitress that was rude and panic consumed her . Definitely not top notch service but will say that most of the other staff were polite but I recommend that they have a dedicated host during peak hours.
