Best WLM Reviews

We ordered delivery to our hotel because we were exhausted after a long day. The food (like most restaurants we tried in Sarasota) was pretty terrible. The pizza was floppy, undercooked (raw dough in places), had no undercarriage and was over sauced (soupy). Dave Portnoy would give it a 3 out of 10 (being generous). The mushroom pizza had no mushrooms. The garlic bread was awful, like someone tipped an entire jar of pre minced garlic over the dough. Inedible. Clearly jarred garlic.
The entire meal was terrible.
January 2024, early evening. Photos are of top floor area. People who worked there were nice. Cocktails and pizza were fantastic! Atmosphere is cozy and comfortable with tables spaced out perfectly. Dress up or dress down, either way you’re good. There’s outdoor, covered seating too. The pizza is Italian style, which means it’s a little softer than those who like to eat with their hands would like, but I didnt find it overly greasy. The flavor is exceptional and their website says they make a lot of food in house and get ingredients from Italy (not sure which ingredients besides tomatoes). A lot of the low star reviews give this place a hard time for its “sogginess” but that’s what this kind of pizza is (tho tbh I wouldn’t use that term) and its best to eat with a fork and knife. Additionally, the prices are more than fair (approx $18-$20 a large pizza). My only frustration is parking. Not sure if I’m missing something about that, but luckily we came at a time where we could park in the government parking lot next door. Other times I haven’t been as lucky. I was born and raised in CT, known for its pizza (I’ve had a lot of New Haven pizza) and personally I think Bavaro’s exceeds those places, in my humble opinion.
The Ricotta Meatballs were delicious, The Ravioli al Formaggi with Vodka sauce was some of the best I have had in Years! The wood fired pizza fabulous.
You really need to reserve your table and dine her ASAP!
Che delizia! The pizza was so good! Chewy, thick crust, perfect balance of sauce and mozzarella. Just perfect! We got the broccolini as an appetizer, which were delicious too (didn't expect parmigiano and lemon juice to pair so nicely!) And the AMB 5 cocktail just became my new favorite cocktail. A must try, if you're into old fashioned style with added bitter. Perfetti sapori di casa!
Wow! I mean I had high hopes for the place. This place is completely RACIST!!! We are a family of 10 people including children that are in Sarasota for vacation. Having loved Bavaro’s in Tampa we were excited to try the new location. The waiter (tall bald guy) walked in with an attitude and rolling his eyes before even greeting us. We went on to order apps, drinks and pizza for the kids. Even that was taken with an attitude where he walked in the kitchen slamming the door…like we should be grateful that he is serving us. What a complete ….(fill in your own verb). The next interaction got only worse when he dropped off the wine and wine glass without serving us. When asked if the kids order can be rushed as they were really hungry, that was met with more attitude and eyes rolling. He slammed the door again into the kitchen which was louder for all the patrons to notice including our children. They asked what is wrong with him!!! We still have to teach our children what racist look likes in this country. When we talked to the manager, he barely cared or paid attention to our complaints as he was too busy serving the “white” patrons. Wow! We left the restaurant 7:00 pm with hungry kids rather than eat at a place that doesn’t want to deal with customers but rather what skin color they are. Don’t ever go to the place!!!
I would recommend Bavaros to friends and family! The pizza was very good! Authentic flavor and texture of a truly Italian pizza. The flavors were balanced and elevated on every dish. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and the quality of the food/ingredients was exceptional.
We were disappointed with two aspects of the meal however. The first item that we ordered off the menu was the garlic bread with cheese and when it arrived we began to break into it. Quickly discovered that some of the crust was very raw in some places as photographed. We don't like to complain but we let the waitress know and she did not really believe us. She also did not offer to comp it which seemed odd. Serving raw dough is not good for a pizza specialized restaurant. We were skeptical about our meals as well but all of the dough came out perfectly cooked on our pizzas.
Other than that, we were disappointed only because we booked indoors and nobody notified us that there was no disabled access up stairs and the upstairs was closed due to low staffing. We did let the online booking platform know that my mom was disabled and had a walker but nobody called us to notify us or even talk to us at the door about it. They just assumed that we were going to sit outside!
Overall I would rate this restaurant a solid 8 out of 10.

Host, waiter- all were very pleasant, accommodating. Best Pasta Ala Vodka I've had! Food was really fresh and hot, delicious. Drinks were great. Looking forward to going back soon.
I want to start off on a positive note:
The atmosphere and social aspect of the restaurant is amazing, everyone is super nice and outgoing and eager to give good service.
My only complaint is that their pizza is not a true “Neapolitan Pizza”. The dough is correct and hydration and seems spot on flavor wise, but there are either issues with the way they are shaping the dough or it’s a fermentation issue with not getting enough gas trapped into the dough before they shape it. If they can solve this issue and create that big air locked crust they will be in a better place overall.
Ps: not looking for a refund or anything out of this, just trying to give positive criticism to help a place better their reputation in the long run by giving honest feedback.
