Best WLM Reviews
I hate to leave a bad review given the employees were nice but I also want to warn other people who may have never been before they spend their money here. This was the nastiest food I’ve ever eaten. I only tried one bite of my food and that was it. I cut the chicken open so you could see it all. I am not a picky eater but good lord this was on a different level of nasty. My meal included a boneless chicken that still had some hair follicles on it that was stuffed with veggies and coated in this orange sauce that was super sweet and tangy. Didn’t expect it to be served with a cherry and peach on top. The waitress was really friendly but it was disgusting. If you do decide to go get steak. The bathroom was dirty. The place was just overall dusty. I don’t understand all the five star reviews this was my first time here and my last time. We left hungry but we’re too grossed out to even eat anything else. My clothes even smelled like the place and I have brushed my teeth 3 times to get the taste out it’s still there. It was $139 dollars before tip for 3 people. Never again.
We've been looking forward to visiting for quite some time. The place has the feel of Germany but needs some repair to the walls, ceiling, etc. I had a special, pork shank, it was amazing!! My wife had Sauerbratten. It was tasty but a bit tough. The serving sizes were large. We had German Chocolate cake for desert. It was delicious! I'm looking for to another visit to dig deeper into their menu.
If you’ve read a couple of poor reviews, know this: the restaurant is authentic German cuisine and decorated like a Bavarian restaurant. If you like these things, which I do (I lived in Bavaria for over a decade), then you’ll appreciate this restaurant more. The Schweinshaxe (pork shank) is better than most you’ll find around Munich. The beer selection on draft is the real stuff. And the Sachertorte (a Viennese specialty) - a flourless rich chocolate cake and raspberry notes - is perfect. I highly recommend this place if you want a piece of German cuisine and beer at its best.
Wonderful food, large portions, I didn't see a single group leave without to go boxes. I was expecting a traditional German beer hall style but it was more fine dining style. I had braised pork shank and my wife had the half duck. It was all delicious.
We have been dying to come here for years, it was well worth the wait!
I made a reservation a week in advanced and we were glad we did because it quickly got busy for prime lunchtime.
The specials were impressive and the duck was some of the best I’ve had. I haven’t had duck prepared like this since I was in France over a decade ago. Felt like I was vacationing abroad!
We enjoyed the beer taster flight and dessert too. We’ll definitely be back for special occasions!
Get the Pretzel
The Bavarian Chef offers authentic German cuisine in a cozy setting. The aroma of fresh pretzels and bratwurst greets you at the door.
The menu features hearty German dishes. Start with the warm, soft pretzels served with mustard dipping sauce. For the main course, try the Jägerschnitzel (hunter's schnitzel) – tender pork cutlets in a rich mushroom gravy. Pair it with spätzle or sauerkraut.
The atmosphere is charming with wood-paneled walls and Bavarian decor. It feels like a cozy Bavarian village.
If you want genuine German food and ambiance, visit the Bavarian Chef. Just remember, get the pretzel.
Food was decent but no where near authentic taste wise. This is coming from a German that has lived in Bavaria for over a decade. Cute idea but dishes cater more to the American taste (everything we ordered was either sitting in a sauce or swimming in butter). Big portions though and friendly service.
We dined here 9/23 and loved everything. We’ve lived in Germany and appreciated the authenticity of the menu and the care taken with the preparation of the food!
My husband was in deep emotional love with the Schweinshaxe ha ha
The selection of wines and liquors is great too
