The food offering was great, and we had a good experience and loved the atmosphere of this restaurant. However the steak was not cooked properly when we asked for medium, instead it was cooked as rare. The flan and the key lime pie for dessert was great! Neptune pillow
And the grilled octopus was my favorite! I think I’ll come again for the desserts! And small bites.
One of my favorite patios in the Loop. Second time coming here and recommend getting Jose's favorites and trying a few of their cocktails. The oysters and luzo sangria were by far my favorites. They do a great job accommodating the business crowd, tourists, foodies, or people on dates. Overall- A refreshing and consistent culinary experience.
We love bar mar!! The service is amazing and the food is also great! The fish is fresh and makes for a great spot for drinks and bites. The cocktails are thoughtfully made and complex which is also nice. The ahi tuna is definitely our favorite but we also loved the tinned fish! We tried the sardines and they balance of the fish and salad mix you could add to your bread was perfect.
What an incredible experience! For top-notch quality, service, cleanliness, and hospitality, this is the place to be. Bring your loved ones and create unforgettable memories. The hospitality is exceptional, and the diverse food options are crafted with care. Whether you're a romantic, a business traveler, or going solo, visiting this establishment in Chicago is a must. Rest assured, you won't be disappointed.
Stopped here for a bite and drink before seeing a production at the Lyric. Sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the staff create amazing looking drinks. The atmosphere was busy but in a good, buzzy way.
My wine was tasty. The crab cake croquettes were awful I’m sorry to say. They were the consistency of baby food with absolutely no flavor. Very disappointing. Especially for the price.
But overall, enjoyed the people-watching and the general vibe of the place. I’d visit again, but try something else on offer.
Happy Birthday to me!
Everything was on point!!!
The ambience is what you’re looking for to make you feel worth of life’s greatness
The food received 4 Stars because sometimes when we try too hard to be different, you would do better with simplicity. Some of the food had a bit too much salt ( I eat very little salt) other than this the dishes weee definitely delectables. ????
I do recommend this place and I definitely will return
Fun spot in Chicago. Good for dinner before shows at the Civic Opera House.
A little pricey but quality of ingredients is high and the service is great.
Well, what can I say… Amazing!!!
A big THANK YOU to our waiter Indira, she was 100/100!!!!!!!! Give her a raiseeeee!!! She helped us with food and drink choices and was very very nice!
We’ve been here for my boyfriend mom’s birthday, it was our 1st time but I’ve heard that BarMar has a really good tasting menu, so that’s what we wanted to try. One friend in our company was vegetarian so we asked if he can order separately (their policy is if you’re taking the tasting menu - the whole table has to take it) and they said it’s totally ok!
We took the most expensive set, I think it was 95$ per person, without wine pairing.
Snacks were so yammy! I loooooved the little tacos with fish and salmon sashimi. The seaweed salad with papaya was a little weird and too SEAWIDISH ?? for me, but it’s ok. Same with their paella - I, personally, didn’t like it, but my boyfriend did. Do it basically all depends on your personal tastes. I can’t say that the some food positions were bad - just not for me.
Oh, and their non-alco cocktail with salted foam is great, loved it! Same with dessert, it was toffee pudding- VERY VERY SWEET, but I like such stuff :)
Overall, great place!
