I believe this is the first time I have ever written an online review for a restaurant, but I believe this one is needed. I arrived today to the restaurant and had to wait more than 20 minutes before the waiter noticed us. The place was definitely understaffed or at least poorly managed as no other waiter was on sight, and there was no one to receive you at the entrance. The food arrived before our utensils, and it took so long for the waiter to bring them over that I had to go over to the bar and ask for them myself just to later find out that there were no spoons in the bundle and had to ask for one again. I went over once more to the bar to ask for a spoon, and when I say I have NEVER been disrespected by anyone in the hospitality and customer service industry this way…. I asked for the spoon in the nicest way possible (because I work in this industry) despite the fact that I HAD to stand up to get utensils to be able to start my food. On top of that, my soup was cold by the time I got my spoon, and was too salty to be eatable. Paid $18 for a food and service that I didn’t enjoy. Plus my boyfriend ordered chicken tenders and got wings instead. Reading other reviews here makes me sad as it seems this has been happening a lot. The guys next to us even said “There’s no way you guys had to get up to get your own utensils”, and I didn’t even tell them about the attitude I got when I went and asked for them… please do better. I work in this industry and I can understand that it can get frustrating at times, but that is never an excuse to deliver poor service. If you are not approachable and nice, don’t work at the bar or in hospitality at all. As for management, please hire better and do a better job at keeping your team in check.
I’ve been in at night twice recently during the week and both times ended up with the same bartender (older woman with black hair) Can easily say bartending is not for her due to her awful lack of time management and people skills … was hoping that it was a fluke till I went back recently .. my girlfriend beat me there and ordered food and drinks and as I arrived was told I couldn’t order anything until I showed that I had cash in my wallet even tho my girlfriend was ordering without doing so for half an hour. the next time I barely even got acknowledged along with my friends I was with and it was incredibly slow at the time. Wish I didn’t tip as well as I did and hope something is done to fix it cause the food has always been great.
When I came in on Saturday, the only place to sit was the bar, where there were not 1, not 2, but 3 bartenders. I sat there for 12 minutes, 38 seconds while the first two, a man and woman were chatting away. The third bartender was actually working, but was putting drinks for servers to take to the tables. I tried to get their attention, but they paid me no mind. When the girl (I think her name is D or B) making the server drinks was done, she came over and got my drink and food. The food was good, took a little long, but the drinks were awesome. I never leave reviews, but needed to say something about the fact the two other people completely ignored me.
If I could give the service 0 stars I absolutely would. The bartenders are horrendous, they actively ignore guests on the regular. It’s impossible to order a drink, and when you do good luck getting another round. The bartender took my friends cash and she didn’t come back with any change, she had to ask her to get it. The bar area is always covered with glasses and dishes even when the bar is empty. As someone in the industry I would steer far away from this place. Awful experience
Don't go to Bar Louie on a crowded pittsburgh day. Either not enough workers in the kitchen or I'm not sure... waited 2 hours for our food. At least we had waters and were in the cool air conditioning while we waited.
Everything was just okay. There's a limited menu after 10pm which only offers appetizers. The patio is nice and the service was okay. There was a mouse running around on the patio that eventually found its way in.
My husband and I went here for lunch on a Friday and our server Arica was amazing the best service I had in a long time she was awesome. The food was scrumptious he had shrimp and grits and I had chicken nachos both dishes was delicious.
Stopped at the North Shore Pittsburgh Bar Louie on March 9th. When we sat down, we were pushed to download the app for the rewards program to get a free appetizer. So we did. A free appetizer sounded good to us. When we went to pay, our waitress took the code from the app in order to take our appetizer off our bill. After that, she told us our total instead of giving us a bill. We assumed the appetizer was off of it without thinking about it. After looking at the prices of the items we ordered later, we realized that the appetizer was not taken off. Now we have no receipt to prove anything since we never got a hard copy bill. Not providing a customer with a hard copy bill is at best, clumsy. And at worst, predatory, not allowing a customer to view what was or wasn’t taken off of their bill when they were pushed to get a “free” appetizer.
