1/31/24:
Sad to report their outgoing message confirms they are permanently closed as of December, 2023.
I was fully prepared to spend $800 on new ball joints, based on a local Toyota dealer's recommendation (for $300 more than Banks' quote).
Banks Automotive inspected my car and confirmed I did not need new ball joints.
My prayers are answered:
An honest, fully-capable mechanic who does not play big-dealership games by building the ticket.
A couple weeks ago we ended up in Littleton after our sprinter van’s serpentine belt broke . They fixed our van up in a timely manner and were fairly priced. They even helped us with our difficult driver door. Thank you so much for your help and I highly recommend them to anyone!
I have been going to the Ford Dealership in Lowell for the majority of time I've owned my 2001 Ford Focus (about 6-7 yrs). To be upfront, I do realize it is a 13 year old car and that there is bound to be repairs at this age. My sister recommended Banks Auto because of the work they did on her car- fair prices and the work was done in a timely manner.
I brought my car in to have my A/C condenser replaced and there was also something wrong with my engine overheating and a belt issue. The total bill was about $1,300. To me, a significant amount. A little less than a month later my car started acting sluggish and the A/C was only working sporadically. I brought it back, they said a belt was not working correctly, they replaced it- they did not charge me. Very thankful, I left thinking I wouldn't have to come back. I was wrong- I went back not only that first time but two more times. The next time my A/C completely stopped working, which the "fix" was tightening hoses, they did not charge me again. I drove my car back in two weeks after that because of the same problem. This time a hose connecting to the A/C condenser needed to be replaced. This time they charged me another $250 for something they had seemed to overlook two weeks ago, and possibly a month and a half ago if I'm being completely honest.
I am very thankful for the two times they saw my car and didn't charge me, honestly- good business right there. Even for the initial repair, they did it in a timely manner; it took a little more than a day. (picked up the car the next morning when I dropped it off the morning before.) Awesome.
However the fact that I needed to bring it back THREE times was wasting my time, as well as theirs.
Hopefully this time the problem is fixed, but I will more than likely bring my car back to the dealership for any major repairs. Oil changes? Sure, even Inspections, fine- but anything that includes more than $100 work of work goes elsewhere.
On short notice, they were able to take my car in and install new front struts and upper control arms on my Ford that I got 1/4 of the way done and got stuck without the right tools. Work was done in a reasonable time and was a no BS experience overall, which you will never get at any chain shop.
I got myself into a bit of a jam by taking apart the front suspension of my wife's car trying to replace the wheel bearing, ball joint, CV axle, and wheel hub. I got most of it apart, but the bearing was rusted into the steering knuckle and I just could not get it out. So I hopped in my truck and brought the knuckle to Banks to ask if they'd press out the old one and press in the new one. They saw how badly it was rusted and fearing it might take a while, were a little hesitant since they only had an hour left on a beautiful Friday afternoon. But they did agree to do it, and charged me a very fair price. All I can say is thank you! The car is all back together with a new bearing, hub, axle, and ball joint and drives so much better now.
The guys at Banks have been servicing my cars for several years. They are always professional, reliable, and fair. I highly recommend them.
Broke down halfway to New Hampshire here in Littleton was hoping to find good guys mechanics was referenced this place price hey part I can purchase a half a mile away for $100 at his charge $397 I can only imagine how much it would want for labor I do not recommend rip-off artists
They helped me out when my normal repair place was closed. They did a great job getting the car diagnosed and fixed in a single day. They even picked me up at my house to get the car and pay for the repairs.
