Unique flavor combinations that were a surprise and a delight! Hubby who loves spice had the Tokyo Taxi Driver with a yummy wasabi jelly and fresh feeling cucumbers and tempura shrimp- in a burger!! So fun, and big portions. My “Grumpy Claire” with apple sauce and a savory caramel sauce with onions and bacon was a party for my tastebuds- even the leftovers rocked. Waffle fries were plentiful and had customizable seasonings at the table we all enjoyed. I love that their drinks come in metal tumblers and pints that keep the drinks cold and give it a celebratory tavern atmosphere. Our server had winning recommendations. My friend had come back 3x this week and we can see why! They’re reinventing the classic burger joint, and I’m all here for it- great job!!
I tried the Tokyo Taxi Cab. What an adventure of flavor! My entire gathering was asking, "Is that shrimp on the burger?" Indeed. Tempura shrimp with teriyaki and slaw and all good things. They serve waffles fries and other burger buddies, but they're not included in the price of burgers, which makes this meal a bit pricey. I would eat here again, but for a more special occasion.
One of the best burger places in Utah. A creative mix of amazing flavors combined with a high quality beef patty. A massive burger full of deliciousness! The special, Tokyo Taxi Burger was so good! And did I mention the fries! A large order is massive and fed all 4 of us. Add on the Cajun and Sour Cream & Onion seasoning to take it up to a whole new level.
Highly recommended! Can't wait to go back.
Super yummy burgers with fun and high quality ingredients. We got the Colorado and the Stoneman and really liked both. Sometimes burgers at places like this are piled so high that they're impossible to eat, not at Backdoor BRGR. The sweet potato fries were also great, nice and crispy.
The service was a little slow, but they super friendly. I loved the huge cups, didn't have to ask for a refill every three minutes.
Really took us by surprise - it's hard to compete with burgers, but they really stand out from the rest of Provo.
We had the Grumpy Claire - a bacon cheese burger with sauteed apples and onions (a surprising delight, perfect char, with a juicy middle)
Their fries - which were perfectly fried waffle fries (soft, with just the right amount of crunch) were also great with the honey mustard.
All of the burger options are so unique, and we definitely will be back to try more.

Funky little restaurant. It’s above the ax throwing so don’t be thrown off when you first walk in (plenty of signs pointing you where to go).
Service overall was good. They are short staffed and had a sign saying they were, so anticipate it to take longer for that reason.
The first page are burgers that they have always. The specials are the ones they rotate out so you’ll have to ask which ones they have that day (or look for signs posted).
The waffle fries were soo good. They come just plain salted and then you can add your seasoning from the 4 options. Sour cream and onion was a favorite for our group. And the honey mustard type sauce for fries was excellent. Burgers are unique so be brave and go for it! There should be an option for everyone. Not listed but they do have a kids slider that comes with fries.
Fun place with a Western ambiance - different for the Provo area, which was a nice change. Food was very good. Burgers are unique and tasty. Love how the fries (both sweet potato and regular) are waffle cut, and the different flavored salts were fun to experiment with.
In the end though, none of this was worth it because of the wait. It took 1hr 15 minutes+ to get our food, and that was at 2:30 pm; shouldn't be a busy time of day. NOT enough workers. There were only two workers seating guests, clearing tables, wiping them down, taking orders, checking on guests, and bringing food, for the entire restaurant, and there are about 35-40 people here right now as I write this review. They also charge a 4% fee on all credit card transactions. This was such a disappointing visit. We were so hungry, but with how long it took, we should have left for lunch after finishing breakfast. ???? Doesn't matter how good a burger it is, this wait time isn't worth it.
We were never checked on by our server. Our food also came out late/out of order; two parties that were seated and ordered 10-20 minutes after us got their food 10 minutes before us. We also asked when ordering for some of the fries to be brought as an appetizer, but they never were.
Bottom line, this place is poorly managed. The manager needs to hire more employees, and to schedule more people per shift. It’s especially unfair to the servers working this hard. They probably don’t get decent tips, because nearly everyone around us was frustrated by the wait time. The two servers kept having to apologize for the wait time on every step of the visit (waiting to be seated, waiting to order, waiting on food, waiting to pay).
