I've been to multiple Avila's location. This is become a must stop when I visiting from Washington!
The way the staff welcomes you and the unique atmosphere of the place, reminiscent of an old church, really seem to make each visit special. It’s not just about the food, which clearly is a highlight with the famous caldo and the must-have crispy taco, but also about the feeling of connection and warmth that turns a simple meal into a memorable occasion. The streak and garlic shrimp is also another favorite of mine.
It’s wonderful to find such a gem during my travels from Washington. I plan to have many more visits to Avila’s. With the goal to visit all of there locations.
This was a very beautiful restaurant. The food was very tasty and fresh. The salsa and guacamole were flavorful and delicious. They have a bar towards the back of the restaurant and plenty of space (with an additional dining room for larger parties). You can still see what seems to be a church-like atmosphere. Very spacious. Tall ceilings. Beautiful. Would recommend to any foodie or someone looking for a unique place to eat authentic Mexican food.
Beautiful Old Abbey turned into a creatively designed super open vaulted ceiling interior that is full of light from so many windows & stained glass...like a prism:))
Less than 1 block from The District Plaza.
Locals go2 for swift, authentic, comfort food and more. Small bar in back is very quaint & nice spot 2 watch sports. Patio has all the bells & whistles. Totally digg just eating chips guacamole ???? & sipping on beverage just people watching:))

The atmosphere of an old church with magnificent stained glass windows and the woodwork is great. Most of our large party enjoyed their food but there were a few misses like the carnitas. Best 2 dishes were the garlic shrimp and the Chile Colorado. Drinks were attentively refilled which is a plus. Prices were very reasonable for the quantity of food in today's economy.
Food was great, service was friendly and fast. Food came out super hot and everything was as ordered! We appreciated the dog friendly patio - they brought a water bowl and water for our pup. Menu was broad - there’s sure to be something for everyone! The chips and salsa were also very tasty.
We absolutely love coming here. This location is inside a Historical Church Building. It’s just beautiful.
The staff is over the top wonderful, the food is outstanding.
The dining room is always clean and comfortable, and the outdoor patio is wonderful, clean, and weatherproof. The bathrooms, although difficult to access for someone with mobility issues, are always clean and well stocked.
Fantastic place to go for date nights or family time. They even have a separate dining area for parties or large group events.
I really like this place. The food is extremely consistent and they always serve you extremely quickly and the food is good. Would I say it is the most authentic mexican..... no but overall still delicious. I would highly recommend their chicken and rice soup. It's one of my favorites. It is an extremely simple dish yet so flavorful and delicious. I love their salsa and it is one of my favorites add a restaurant. It is chunky with lots of onion. It has a tiny kick to it but overall is packed with flavor. I also really enjoyed their crunchy tacos here. I have been catering here as well multiple times and the food is amazing and I really feel that the pricing is fair. They are extremely generous with their chips when it comes to catering orders or to go orders.

I've been to this brand but first time at this location. It's a converted church (not lost on I or my friend with our antics) and it's stunning. The stain glass is breathtaking!
The service was outstanding! We were there for a few hours talking, talking and talking since it had been forever since last together. The waiter and bus staff were sensational to us. The food was delicious! Had a beef quesadilla and chicken fajitas. Just YUM! Still a reasonable price and huge portions. Special shout-out for their homemade salsa. Has a great bite and loaded with fresh ingredients. I should have brought some home!
