I had a truly disappointing experience with autobahn motor works in Bethesda. Not only did they fail to address the issues with my bmw, but they also engaged in deceptive practices that left me feeling cheated and frustrated.
Firstly, upon receiving my bmw back from the shop, I noticed that the same problems I had brought it in for were still present. Upon further inspection by another mechanic, it was revealed that not only had autobahn motor works failed to fix the issues, but they had also replaced perfectly good parts with inferior ones, exacerbating the problems.
To add insult to injury, not only did they charge me for the purported "brand new replacement parts," but they also billed me for unnecessary labor costs. It's appalling to think that a supposedly reputable establishment would stoop to such unethical behavior.
Furthermore, when confronted about the issue, john the owner was dismissive and unapologetic, refusing to take responsibility for their actions or offer any form of compensation for their negligence.
I would strongly advise anyone considering using autobahn motor works to proceed with extreme caution. Their lack of integrity and willingness to deceive customers for financial gain is utterly unacceptable. Save yourself the headache and find a more trustworthy and reputable mechanic elsewhere.

No one will answer the phone. When you go there in person you are ignored. When you are finally spoken to, you are told "too much on my plate, go to the dealership."
John and his team are fantastic. Always honest, always excellent work, NEVER trying to oversell services. I took my Porsche Boxster to John for 12 years before selling it. Also took BMW X3 and BMW 328i for the entire time I owned them. Never a complaint.
Most time you go to a mechanic, you feel like you are going to get taken for a ride. John makes you feel like he will treat your car as his own. Never plus selling you services that aren't necessary. Great service, fair price. If you have a European car, this is the only place I'd take it.
I came into town to visit family for the weekend. I had a service light come on during my trip. I dropped by to see if they could help and although they were extremely busy the owner took personal interest in my safety and had a technician check it out. They provided phenomenal honest service. One of the best auto shop experiences ever. Highly recommend!
My BMW has been having acceleration issues for years, but the dealership couldn’t diagnose the problem at all. Autobahn took about an hour to figure out the problem and then actually referred me back to the dealership because it was a problem that BMW should fix for free even though my car was out of warranty. They didn’t need to do this at all - they could have simply told me what needed to be fixed, and I’ve have been out over $4000. I can’t recommend Autobahn highly enough. Trustworthy, reliable.

I had just bought a used Mazda CX-7 (I know, not a German car, but this is part of the story) the day before and that night realized the headlights went out. I was driving to Pittsburgh the next day, which was a Sunday, so I needed them replaced before I left. I went to 3 other mechanics on River Road and none of them would help me because they said the Mazda was too hard to change the headlights, so I would need to wait until Monday. I drove over to Autobahn Motor Works and popped my head in to find out they were closed too, but the mechanic told me to pull my car up anyway and he would take a look. Even though he doesn't work on Mazda's, he replaced my headlights, diagnosed the problem that it was actually probably a loose socket, and then checked my oil, and filled up my tires. All on a day when he closed! Still helped me out unlike any other mechanic in the area. I was highly pleased with the service and would recommend Autobahn Motor Works to anybody and everybody.
