This place was recommended by a few Uber riders and this place did not disappoint. Thank y’all!!! This was a Sunday so it was kind of packed. Park either in front or side of building. When I was leaving it was cars parked on the street. There’s no seating just standing room to order. Then you sit in your car until you receive a text. The food is delicious and they’re not stingy with what they give you.
Oh my goodness, the food was delicious. I had the smothering shrimp with yellow rice, green beans, and Mac n cheese. One of the customers said I made a great choice. The staff was great and polite. It is take out restaurant.
Hey, you'll need to support this young black entrepreneur. I just met her yesterday and I must say she is so down to earth and such a sweetheart as well. I can tell you that right off bat she is very passionate about her business, loves to support her community, and she even gives opportunities to the people in need of either full time or part time jobs. She is real as you, me, or anyone you know on the every day basis. So help her out and let her show you her heart and art. Also, some of the best soul food I have tasted so far in duuuuuvvvvaaaalllllll. By the way you can order through the Door dash app as well. Great food is always worth the wait and price. Don't forget to stop be and get you a taste of healthy, fresh, and tasteful plate. Aye bring me a plate too.

I rolled out of church downtown today hankering for some BBQ. I pulled up Google and didn’t see anything open and near-by. I chose Austin’s instead, and I am so glad I did. I’ve never had smothered shrimp before. So delicious! It’s not good for ya body, but it’s great for your soul. The green beans were spot on, and the baked beans were amazing (a little bit of a kick too). The rice was a surprise. I didn’t expect it to go so well with the deep-fried shrimp and brown gravy…BUT IT DID. I expected the soul food to be saltier, but actually it was perfect. I haven’t made it to dessert yet because I’m so full (so yes, healthy portions/great value for the money). It’s take out only, but don’t expect the atmosphere to be what it’s not. It’s great food, prepared from scratch, and prepared fast. Take it, and eat it. Right now.
This food was phenomenal. The last thing the chief told me before I left was “You will be back.” And sure enough I can’t wait to visit again. My first and only meal hear was Smothered Shrimp with yellow rice, with a side of mac and cheese and collared greens, with corn bread.
This is my first time ordering from here. First of all I ordered mashed potatoes and got rice. Secondly, this food has no flavor. The chicken tasted like absolutely nothing. The rice and field peas are ok, nothing special and these Lima beans are mostly mush. Really disappointed.
I visited Austin 2x’s back to back in the week! On Saturday I got the fried shrimp dinner with Mac and cheese and field peas and snaps. Sunday I got the same thing along with an oxtail dinner. I did try the dressing and greens as well.
The customer service on both days were excellent and even the owner was very friendly which was a plus!
The shrimp on both days were awesome fried to perfection! The Mac and cheese on Saturday was better than Sunday to me, it was way more creamy and not to much of the sharp taste. You can see the difference in the picture of both macs.
The dressing was very moist and seasoned to perfection with the gravy on top. Greens were good as well.
My mom said the oxtails were tender but would like more spice to it.
Overall I would recommend for your next soul food fix, and I will be going back too!
