Best WLM Reviews
Stopped in early the other morning. They were the only place open at 6 am, so I went in. Two old time Mainers were loudly complaining about rural issues like when I was a kid. Honestly, it has been years since I've heard true new England bellyaching and it really set a country vibe that I appreciate.
The waitress was very quick and friendly. I wish I had been more awake, because I'm sure she would've been chatty if I had been with it.
I ordered steak and eggs, because I've never ordered steak and eggs. Since I'm carnivore I asked for no hashbrowns and no toast. Asked if there was a price difference and she gave me two bucks off, which is better than most places I've been! The scrambled eggs were cooked but not runny, the steak was medium and tender, and the coffee was coffee.
To cap it all, the view out the window was gorgeous with the sun reflecting off the snow covered mountain. Great way to start the morning!
Good food, great specials, friendly atmosphere. Great views of the Lake
In the area today... dropped into Auntie Ms... it was homey and the food was good. Working on a longer more elaborate review. May revisit first.
Stopped here after my family and I got back from the guided moose tour. Nice, little place with decent food and service. Really thought the way they made the pancakes was interesting. Very light and airy. Normally used to the thick, substantial ones out of the Bisquick box. Only complaint really was the coffee sucked. I know it's just a little place and not a fancy espresso bar, but it smelled and tasted like Folgers and the mug the coffee came in was hotter than the coffee was
I'm from Florida originally, but grew up in the Redneck Riviera and most of my family in from Alabama. Now that I live in the north, this isn't usually something I brag about too often. The reason I do so now is to point out how comforting the food at Auntie M's really is.
Whether is was the cheese grits, the sausage gravy and biscuits, or just the bacon, the food was simply outstanding. Being real, it was just delicious breakfast food. I genuinely shouldn't be this excited for just some comfort food. That being said, I guess they caught me at a home-sick moment.
Some things to note:
- Cash only. Theirs an ATM at the coffee house up the street
- The staff isn't the most charming group in the world. FAR from rude, but not really the smiling type
- Not very spacious, so consider expecting a wait time
Excellent service and a very friendly staff. All the items my wife and I have tried have been tasty and filling. They have a lot of special items made right there; pies, breads and seasonal options. Bring cash; no other forms of payment are acceptable. The best choice for breakfast in Greenville.
Love the place.. great food and the waitress was a hot ticket . Lew Ellen Hughes, she wrote a book about Maine stories and growing up there.. currently reading it .... the restaurant is where the local people go and we enjoyed it too. Quick food and zany people....... loved it and we go in every year when we are there
