always find just what i need 2feel like Im back home. Made my absolute Favorite x- mas cookies. Nougat Stangen
This little store put me in tears. My mom was born and raised in Germany and hearing the ladies accent brought back so many memories! I also LOVED their goodies, and they have the German meatloaf seasoning packets! I'll definitely be back!
My boyfriend is from Germany so he and I enjoy visiting any German restaurants that we come across. We had taken a trip to SV and wanted to try all of the German places that we could. Angelika’s was our first stop since it closed a bit earlier than others.
I liked that the atmosphere felt like being in someone’s home. All the way down to the table cloths and possible shower curtains dividing each booth. There were several other customers when we came in and only the owner serving everyone. She was very friendly, tried to help me with my German word pronunciation, and attentive as well. My boyfriend and I enjoyed looking around at the pretty big selection of items that are in the shop part of the restaurant too.
As for the food, I ordered paprikaschnitzel and he had a schnitzel sandwich. I wasn’t a huge fan of the paprika sauce on my dish (I hadn’t had it before) but the schnitzel itself and potatoes were good! My boyfriends’ sandwich was tasty as well. Neither of ours was dry and I felt like the portion sizes were good. I hope to go back on our next SV trip!
Went to Angelika's on the recommendation of a local patron. We checked the time of the establishment and arrived there at 355 pm, 10 minutes past the cutoff time. It was pouring out!
The owner herself came out to see what it was we wanted and we were unkindly turned away.
The stated time is that they are open until 5:00 and in my opinion this is a very shoddy business practice to have two paying customers show up at 3: 55 and be told as much that the place was closed but the door was not locked.
Having worked in food services myself in the past I do understand the desire to get away after you've put in a full day, but in my day of working in food services if customers came in slightly before closing time, we would tell them that there were a few things available off the menu but not the full menu set. Most people acquiesced to this request and we still managed to get the restaurant closed up when we were supposed to.
I traveled a long way and was looking forward to trying this German establishment as I love German food. I would give less than a one star for this experience if I possibly could!
If I lived in the area there would never be a repeat experience with that kind of customer service!!!
We tried this place for lunch while down in the area visiting. Very small restaurant area but very good food and service. It is very quaint like being at someone's home. The owner speaks German and is very friendly and helpful. The food was wonderful and very delicious. We bought many items in the grocery side. We will return again. Very clean as were the restrooms.
Truly wonderful food, it reminds me of my beloved grandmother's cooking. I could not stop smiling while I ate, and honestly cannot wait to go back again. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant for the quality of the food and the wonderful people that work there.
Good authentic German food at a great price. Make sure to shop in the deli store
We unknowingly arrived 30 minutes before closing but the owner graciously invited us to stay as their last guests of the day.
The food was so delicious. We had goulash (my husband who visited Germany multiple times, raved about it), the sliced potatoes (that I can't remember the name of lol), and the schnitzel with the bell pepper gravy.
The owner, and even the other patrons, were so friendly. It was a completely enjoyable experience all around. We can't wait to come back!
I've noticed that many actual Germans eat at this establishment and I've heard it's the most authentic German food in town. It's definitely less salty/buttery than other German places I've been to recently.
