Best WLM Reviews

We were lucky enough to get a table at this small and beautiful restaurant. Make sure you book as there aren't many tables. The place is small and cozy.
The food was phenomenal, the service was even better. I can't recommend this place enough.
I had the lamb, which was cooked to perfection, the portions are generous. The presentation is simple but elegant.
It's really good for dinner. I enjoyed all dishes and drinks. Prices is reasonable without tax charge. I think I will come again with my friends.
We've eaten here several times for special occasions. On each visit it has been the little things that made it special. The first time we went there we took a bunch of animal face masks with us (much like masked ball masks) and put them on for the dessert course. Angela loved it, took a photo and even got Richard and some of the other kitchen staff to come see.
It's made us memorable to them (though I think they remember a lot of their previous customers due to the personal nature of the restaurant) and every visit back they have recognised us and always have a little chat.
Food excellent, local and fresh. Service excellent and friendly, nothing is too much trouble. Not cheap (good thing) and excellent value for money.
We went for a birthday celebration after hearing good reviews. The starter was great,
then three of us ordered steak and all three were over cooked. My steak was burnt, chewy, dry and inedible, it also came attached to a large lump of fat, that was insipid and unappealing.
The deserts, you need a magnifying glass to spot the desert on your plate.
They do not list soft drinks on the menu, leaving you having to ask what is available and trying to remember what the waitress said.
There was only one waitress serving all the table's.
We went to this restaurant on a recon mission to check if this might be a possible place to have our wedding dinner. We both ordered scallops to start and filet steak as a main. Steaks were ordered medium rare . Scallops had no colour or calmelization on them. They were served in a cream sauce, may be to disguise that the chef didn't really know how to cook a scallop. We ate them and said nothing. Steaks came and both were definitely medium. We couldn't eat them and sent them back. Server knew they were overcooked. They were brought back to us, fresh plates and fresh steaks. Both were rare. My partner ate some veg and a little of the steak. I ate 10% of what was on my plate. Again, server knew they were now undercooked. Kudos to her for knowing how a steak should be cooked. She said we would not be charged for them. While this gesture is appreciated, it should never have come to that. We are now faced with the challenge of finding a bistro style restaurant for a small, intimate wedding group. How hard is that? Angela's could have been perfect. We can walk there and were willing to drop unlimited cash on food and drink for our guests. If only they could cook a steak.

I wanted to take my wife to a fancy restaurant for her birthday. I found @Angela's on the web and booked a table time. It is a lovely cosy restaurant. The menu isn't very large. So there shouldn't be any issues with the food. The starter (Scallops) was beautifully cooked. The problem was with the main (Monkfish). It was bland. It felt like the fish wasn't seasoned properly. I should've got it replaced but I ended up seasoning it myself. Practically, every mouthful I had needed seasoning with salt and pepper. This was made the experience very disappointing.
My fiancé and I celebrated our engagement at this excellent restaurant. The service was fantastic throughout with a very friendly and personal greeting right through to the warm goodbyes. The decor is very tasteful, mixing a neutral white clean feel with local art. The feel of @ Angelas is very similar as the service is both very professional yet personal.
We had the mussels for our starter which were lovely and very well balanced with a delicate sauce. For our mains my fiancé had a very soft and succulent lemony chicken. I had the steak which was very tender and tasty.
The best moment came with the dessert. I had coffee with a little chocolate truffle and my fiancé had the best creme brulee either of us have ever tasted. This was served with a lovely message congratulating us on our engagement which was very sweet and touching.
The price was very reasonable and definitely worth it for the quality of food we had. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and our only regret is that we don't live in Exeter so we can't go again soon!
Having said that it was expensive let me qualify - I believe you pay for quality - and you get that in gallons here. From the food to the service and even the ambience of the place. Glad to see Richard and Angela have done well enough to expand - they deserve it. Cannot recommend @Angela's highly enough.
