Best WLM Reviews
Let me start by saying- I’m blown away. This is my new spot. You can tell just how much love when into this place. The vibes, drinks, and food were 10/10. We had the hot Lemon pepper wings, Caribbean burger and banana pudding.
For drinks we had the beaches Italian and several of the Ancient Mariners. Topped off with a tropic thunder shot ( a must if you visit). The hot lemon pepper were perfect, I would’ve had 50 had I known how good the sauce was. The burger was so filling, and the peppers went really well with it.
The menu and drink pairings were obviously well thought out. Atmosphere is immaculate- truly a must visit restaurant. A welcome and incredibly unique addition to Tuscaloosa. Can’t wait to be back.
Stopped in on whim while walking around on a Friday evening. I thought they offered drinks to go like some of the other bars on weekends but an employee informed me that their license doesn’t allow them to do that at this time. So I decided to stay and try out two drinks. I tried the Hemingway (pictured) and the rum old fashioned (I forgot the actual name of the drink). Both cocktails were pretty good. I’m usually a tough critic when it comes to cocktails, but I was pleased. The customer service was great as well. So I would definitely come back.
I didn’t have any food, so I can’t comment on that.
The interior is quaint but I like the aesthetic. There are a couple regular height tables that can each sit two people, but most of the tables in the restaurant are high tops. I don’t have an issue with that, but I just wanted to mention that in case anyone has accessibility concerns or a strong table height preference.
Oh my God this place is wonderful! Normally I don’t make review but after the experience I had, I simply had to!
The owner (who I met during my visit) came over and made sure that everything tasted wonderful and that everything was to my satisfaction. He even brought me a shot of a new drink recipe he’s been working on. I was informed that every syrup, juice, sauce and food is made in house! That’s a rare find nowadays.
I tried the spam sandwich and while I was hesitant I was blown away. The egg was runny and the wasabi mayo gave it a perfect kick! I felt like I was eating a cheesy egg BLT, and don’t even get me started on their fries. Honestly they’re the best ones in town!
Last but not least I got a banana cream pie and they let me take the cutest picture!
The staff was so polite and constantly made sure I was taken care of (but they were not overbearing by any means.)
Tim told me that he and his wife, Carson are running the whole show with only three employees! I met their bartender and server Savie, she was so sweet and really personable.
I can’t wait to come back and I’m so excited to the the sexy garlic fries they’re going to add to the menu shortly!!
They are brand new so a lot of grace is going into this review. The venue is small and I’ve visited many spots that made small spaces work so this definitely has potential. The drinks were really great with the exception of way too much ice served consistently with each drink made. I ordered pineapple Mango wings while my husband ordered a pulled chicken sandwich with fries and wasabi ranch dipping sauce. The wings definitely are a working recipe in progress and came out extremely dry but they are still trying to perfect them so I used the wasabi ranch that definitely made it all better. My husband adored the fries and his sandwich. All shot glasses, cups and just the general theme was extremely cute. I hope to definitely give them another shot once they have been open a few months to see the ever evolving menu and flow. I’m excited for what’s to come for them.
Such a unique vibe, it brings some much needed tranquility to Tuscaloosa. Anchor Drops definitely achieves the chill Caribbean style theme it’s going for.
The food is absolutely delicious. To tell the truth I’ve actually been more than once because of how wonderful it is here!
The Teriyaki steak sandwich and the Huli Huli chicken are both to die for, and both sandwiches were as big as my face!
My favorite drink was the banana dance, it tasted like a coffee banana milkshake. Heavenly!
The staff is great. I really loved Carson and Savie my server and bartender. They came up to us and refilled our waters, chatted briefly with us and asked if everything was wonderful and if they could do anything to make it better.
10/ 10 would recommend and can’t wait to come back.
Please only listen to the positive reviews: after talking to the owner and staff we learned how angry underage girls review bombed them because they were mad about being grumpy. Yeah definitely not childish at all. ????????
The food was great, the Banana Dance was drink amazing. The waitress Carson was very professional and courteous and the bartender Savie was amazing and again the drinks were delicious. Idk who the cook was but the food was wonderful so props to them too. I can’t believe I never heard of this place but apparently they recently opened. But it’s my go to place from now on. 10/10. I posted pictures of the Teriyaki Steak Sandwich and the Hot Lemon Pepper wings.
Ps
Bathrooms were immaculately clean which is very telling and important.
Great service. Great drinks. Great food. Looking for good vibes , drinks , and food ? Give this place a try. The owner is a great guy. Can tell they care about their coustomers . Looking for something different to eat ? Try the huli huli wings . Also, try the spam bowl.
Wonderful staff who ensures that they take the time to explain both the food and drink menu.
The food is delicious and comes out quickly.
The drinks are refreshing and delicious. Tuscaloosa has been aching for a quality craft bar and we have finally found one!
The atmosphere quite honestly makes you forget you’re in Alabama and not lost on a tropical paradise.
It has been a refreshing experience to be able to continuously enjoy Anchor Drops and I can’t wait to see how it expands!
