Very exciting to have a Black owned Restaurant In Downtown Rockford, much growth. Gathered with a few Butterflies to support thee establishment for the first time. A very soulful menu from the greens, yams, blacken catfish, macaroni, jerk chicken and the list goes on. The food was good. Everyone enjoyed their meals with a cocktail of course.✌????&????
Ordered from them for the first time. 1st I was disappointed because they don't have corn bread, then they ran out of greens before I even got my order. Once I got my order and saw the portions... Smh. The chicken, catfish & wings was dry and burnt, the Mac& cheese was mushy and severely over cooked. They gave me a discount for no greens but then charged the same amount in a service fee. I will not be coming back.
I can't wait to go inside to enjoy the food. When I first had a meal it was through catering. Every bite was DELICIOUS.... EVERYTHING. I can't wait to get another plate!!! It was excellent. Hands down..don't miss out!
Finally a soul food place in Rockford! And not just any soul food restaurant, this is by far the best I've had in a long time! The environment was a whole vibe. The staff was friendly and amazing! Our bartender was attentive and very helpful with the menu. Her drinks were delicious and definitely worth the price! The owner and chef actually came out and said hello. The Mac and cheese was not out of a box or powdered cheese! Oh my god was it great. I can go on about this place, will be here everyday just to get a taste of home! Already thinking about coming back for the dinner menu!
A friend brought me into Ambiance for a lunch date during the week. The atmosphere is lovely. Their epoxy floors are beautiful! Our waitress was friendly and checked on us frequently enough. The greens and the jerk chicken were seasoned perfectly, and the macaroni and cheese is better than anything I've had Rockford.
My family is from Chicago. We were in town for a basketball camp. Our hotel was across the street, so we went for dinner. We arrived at 7pm. The restaurant didn’t close until 9. Our waitress was VERY pleasant.
We ordered the strawberry lemonade and it was AMAZING. My daughter wanted to order another glass, but they ran out of lemonade. We wanted to order the shrimp Alfredo. They were out of Alfredo noodles. So we both ordered the fried catfish. I ordered the greens & candied yams as my sides.
When it was time for our food to come, the waitress tells me that they were out of greens. Now this is becoming frustrating that they are out of everything. So I ordered the Mac & cheese.
Now our food arrives. The catfish was seasoned to perfection. The candied yams were very good. I didn’t care for the Mac & cheese. Most restaurants that sell catfish for a $20-30 price will give you 2 pieces of catfish. We only received ONE piece.
The waitress did apologize and told us that they had only been opened for 2 weeks. So I gave some grace. But if your restaurant is across the street from a large hotel, you will need to be more prepared.
We tried a few things, catfish, greens, Mac and cheese, sweet potatoes, lamb chops & the soul food rolls were excellent. Everything was so good. And the peach lemon drop hands down the best I’ve had so far. You have to check them out if you’re in downtown Rockford. We will be back!!!!
Loved it! I was blessed with a Soul Food Plate (the Jerk was on point) and I enjoyed every bite! While you can’t always please every customer…this guy is 100% satisfied! Thanks Ambiance for sharing your culinary skills with the City of Rockford!
