Best WLM Reviews
We decided to wander the Bywater area and came across Alma. When we peeked inside it looked warm, inviting and packed with happy people. We got lucky and the day was perfect for outdoor dining. Service was friendly and helpful and all the food was fresh hot and delicious. Honduran food is yummy and to me has a definitely Mexican association which is a great thing. I think you will love brunch here.
Manny took care of our group of 15 with such an upbeat and friendly attitude. Seriously one of the best servers we've ever had!
We went for brunch and drip coffee was delicious, the special was Chilaquiles which was hands down my favorite brunch dish ever and the portion was very generous. My husband had the Deep South sandwich which was awesome.
Overall awesome experience and can't wait to come back.
Best meal i had in New Orleans & I’ve been to commanders balance, Emerils, etc… amazing coffee & drinks as well! The Honduran breakfast was fabulous but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I still think about the beans. We went for brunch on a Friday around noon, we had reservations but could’ve been sat either way. Coffee was so good for some beans ti take home. Don’t skip this place.
If you aren’t from or staying in the neighborhood, trust me when I say Alma is worth the drive out to the Bywater!
I recently ate here for brunch twice in one weekend, trying two different dishes that were absolutely delicious. The servers and bartenders are friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating.
Absolutely phenomenal meal and service. 10/10 for the special huevos divorcidados. The salsa verde was absolutely incredible, my server mentioned this special may become a menu staple and I hope it does! The drink specials were also wonderful. The atmosphere and service was quiry and so cozy. I can't wait to return to try some more of these dishes!
Like most of the negative reviews, the food here is delicious. Some of the dishes aren’t perfect like I’ve had my food cold a few times. I’ve ordered the whole fish and it was dry, over fried and had no sauce or anything over the top. So a $80 dish was strongly lacking. My main issue coming here is feeling ripped off. They will NEVER take anything off your bill if you’re not happy. The up charges are crazy, they charge for every coffee refill, milk on the side, sour cream, salsa. Anything you want you can have but you’re getting charged for it. Drinks are basic and so over priced. I’m always 50/50 on coming back here. My morals tells me it’s not right and I rather not support a restaurant that doesn’t value its patrons.
The owner will have to swallow her pride and change things if she wants this place to last. Slowly people are deciding to choose other places, regardless of how good the food is.
We go to Nola every year for vacation. We usually try new places for dinner, but we always make it to Almas for brunch at least once and usually twice. We love it! Chilaquiles pictured
Update (2024) : Alma Cafe remains an awesome place for breakfast and/or lunch. I invited a whole new group of friends for their 1st time visit. Everyone enjoyed the great food and good vibes. HUGE operatic
shout-out to the best Server, Joshua!???? Brother you rock! You gotta eat here.
1st review (2023):
An outstanding first impression. Staff, service & food was exceptional. The La Louisiane Omelette was flavorful & filling (every morsel). With the orange chia, a soothing exhale was inevitable. Seating available inside, outdoors and at the bar with stable table & chairs. Staff so kind, friendly & welcoming, I almost asked "how's yo Mama & dem?☺️"
With every fiber, I highly recommend a morning or lunch experience here. ⚜????????
