Roberto, my timely helper, my last hope, helped me out of trouble in my first solo journey. His remarkable patience, kind communication, high efficiency, fair pricing impressed me so much. I really appreciate his help. Without him, my whole week is ruined.
Here's the story. I, the asian guy in the picture hit the road for 4 national parks in spring break on Friday. I noticed the transmission cannot switch when I was driving from Dallas to Lamesa where I spent the night. The symptom is high engine rotation speed (5000 rpm) and relatively low car speed (60 mph). I got my first diagnose from local O'Reilly store, code was P078A transmission solenoid H. No repair stores are open in weekends and I just continued my trip to Guadalupe, Carlsbad, through the Linken National Forest I arrived in Alamogordo in Sunday's afternoon. I went to first repairing store and they told me they don't do transmission and recommended me another transmission store. After dianostics from that transmission store, they told me they don't repair transmissions but only replace transmissions. The cost should be thousands and I'll have to wait for weeks. They charged me for more than 100 bucks and recommended me to try luck in the dealerships, where they may repaire transmissions. I went to the dealership, left the car there and got a shuttle ride back to hotel. Car got diagnosed, quote for repairing it is more than $2000 (parts $1500,5h labor for diagnosing and repairing), which I definitely cannot afford. I took Uber to the dealership, had a casual chat with the driver. The driver, knowing I couldn't afford repairing the transmission at the dealership, suggested me to try one last transmission store and if it doesn't work out, go to El Paso to repair. He searched for me and found this highly rated Automatic Transmission. He told me to try my luck here. Here I came.
Roberto looked in to the diagnostics report and told me he help me to replace the solonoid module (which is the most likely solution for Code P078A unless adding transmission fluid can solve it). He told me I can buy parts myself to save money and he'll repair my car on Tuesday (cz it was already 4:30pm). He finished the repairing at the noon and we had a test driving. It worked!!! He was exceptioanlly delighted and kept saying "you don't know how happy I am". I was hysterically happy as well. Finally I can continue the trip.
I wrote this whole story here because I really felt helpless, as a POOR FOREIGN student, traveling ALONE. Roberto, has sympathy, patience, and most importantly the ability to do the great job. I can't thank him too much.
The happy ending is, I bought some gifts and returned to Roberto's store. He came out nervous. I guess he was thinking: 'the engine light is on AGAIN???' He was so funny standing there and I showed him the gifts. He gave me a huge hug. I guess we're friends now! I also want everyone know I'm not giving criticism to other stores. Every one helped me and guided me to the next store which may help me to solve the problem. Everyone is nice to me. I deeply appreciate everyone's help!!!
Honest, straightforward, and fast mechanics. They caught a problem with my car that my family (everyone's an expert) had completely misdiagnosed, and actually had caused themselves in the first place. Had they not caught this mistake, we easily could have had a rolled Jeep on our hands. I bought the parts, they did the labor, and I left very happy. Id highly recommend these gentlemen to any of my friends and family in town. Next time me or a friend has a car problem,Im coming straight here.

Roberto, is a cool guy. He changed my transmission fluid within minutes of me calling him. Gave me a great price and excellent customer service. I would highly recommend him to anyone needing work done on their automobile.

Robert was a genuine and very helpful mechanic. We were on the road and called Alamo and he told us he could immediately see us. He was very quick and got right to the problem (thankfully minor). It only cost $35. Would recommend. Cash only.

We had a transmisson issue while traveling through Alamogordo. These guys were great at talking to us on the spur of the moment, running diagnostics and offering suggestions. Definitely worth the time to talk to if you have need!
They do other auto work too. I took in my parts (brake pads and rotors) for my Jeep's and they have everything changed out in good time. I will go back for other auto needs.
