If I could leave 0 stars I would. My mom and sister had knotless braids done at this shop by Maria, and I loved the work thus I asked my mom to set me an appointment. I had an appointment at this shop last Tuesday, in which I was under the impression that Maria would be doing my hair. However, instead 2 other ladies did my hair, in which they were nice but one of their work clearly is not. The woman who completed the back of my head did a horrible job, in which I would have never known had I not been attempting to do a style that required the back of my head to be sectioned properly. With that being the case, I took a picture of the back of my head and noticed that the parts are HUGE! I then reached out to my mom so that she could speak with Maria in hopes to rectify the situation, and Maria apologized for the horrible work and as I live out of state, she told my mom to let her know when I’m in town so that she could redo my hair. She also mentioned that she would be visiting Africa next month and wouldn’t return until July. As such, my mom gave me her number to setup an appointment before then. I reached out to her and she advised that if a customer is not pleased with her hair that we must let them know within 24 hours, otherwise she would not be able to redo my hair. She further advised that she could compensate me with feed-in braids or $50. Keep in mind that these knotless braids cost me $260, and the entire back of my head looks a hot mess!! Someone literally played in my head for $260 so either redoing my hair or giving me my money back makes more sense! Taking these horrendous braids out of my hair today, and I will never return!! If you plan on getting your hair braided at this shop, either make sure Maria will be doing your hair, or make sure you check the back of your head before leaving! See pictures below!
I absolutely love my small knotless braids!! Marie was very professional when I inquired about the price and what day she could accommodate me! The two ladies that did my braids worked really well together!! My braids are extremely neat and it only took them 4 1/2 hours(I got waist length braids). I’ve been receiving so many compliments!

UPDATE!! The “owner” called to yell at me because of my review, I had to block her. Pics & videos posted. 2 -3 different sizes in my head. Supposed to be medium. Middle part not straight by far and the braids are not aligned.
3/27/2024: Reviews must be majority lies!!! RED FLAGS FROM START!! My “knotless” have KNOTS at the root????Sent text on 3/26/2024 and scheduled for next day afternoon appt ???? Arrived and the lady was asking me what color did I want (I added that in the booking text, but no communication between them)????I sat in the chair and she starts digging in a bin on the floor saying she’s not sure if she has enough packs ????She digging in bin after bin and drawers, some hair was in packs and some was loose hair thrown in bins, the hair was the premade twotone that I hate ????Then they prep/separate the hair, should have been done prior to me getting there, waste of time and they stopped twice to separate more hair????the supposedly knotless braids are stiff and bulky (knot) at the root ???? two braided on my head and the braid pattern was pathetic, parts not straight, sections not even. And twice they were braiding the same area so they’re bumping hands and pulling hair that’s not supposed to be pulled! ???? the back braider works opposite of the front braider!! ???? they braid down about 2x times and then add hair back to back which causes a “knot” at the top of the braid ???? ???? to top it off the braider in the back kept pulling my hair, parts not straight, some pieces of hair not fully in the braid, they tried pulling hairs out of braids that were wrong which ripped pieces of my hair ???? ???? to top it off she tried to sneak a $20 tip into the payment amount but the person I text had already told me $260 ????????????????WILL NOT RETURN!! They are best Place to get your hair done cause ..came after 1:00 Friday afternoon 6:30 was done ✔️ They get you before blink time ⏲️ done Truly didn't had to wait ladies got on down did my hair
Just want to say thank you to Queen of Braids for getting my daughter in at the very last minute! We had an appointment book with someone but like always she would cancel the day of out appointment and I really needed my daughter’s hair braided for an event on Saturday! So I’m up at 3am on google looking for someone to call at 7am GOD sent me Queen of Braids and she answered on the 1st ring at 7am she did not hesitate and told me to have my daughter there at 8am! I can’t thank her enough for slaying my daughter’s knotless braids. She was very nice, patient and friendly!! We will be booking with her every time for all of out braiding needs!! Y’all go book with Queen of Braids!!!!
I definitely enjoyed my experience. The ladies were both polite and professional and I absolutely love my hair!
Very friendly ladies... I called to see if they did walk in & they said yes without hesitation showed them the video of how I wanted it & needless to say she mastered it with no problem… Thanks again I love my hair❤️❤️
I axed for a combover and to no avail. They put me on hold after i asked for scissors and I tried to call out to them. I tried to speak in their native language and then they texted me "Idiot indian." I will never come back again.
4 months later:
Still have not gotten an apology from the higher ups from the African Queen of braids. I can not convey my disappointment in not only the ladies of the African Queen of Braids shop who took my call, but to the entirety African race, epically the ones located in Mississippi . Not only will I need an apology from the people working at African Queen of Braids. I will need an apology from EVERY black person in the Mississippi to truly convey that they will NOT stand for racism and discrimination against minorities. My whole life I have struggled with racism and being barred from privileges due to the color of my skin. This is unacceptable and I will not stop updating this review until all of my requests have been met. If you wish apologize to me, please write a 1 star review about your apology. I will come back to see if any of you guys met their end of the deal.
