Best WLM Reviews

Haven’t ate much African food in my life so I don’t have much to compare it to. However, I found it delicious. The wait staff is always so friendly and helpful. So, if you have never ate African food before they are happy to guide you on selections and will even share with you how they eat the food in their culture. A great experience!
The parking is pay street parking but I have never had an issue finding parking near the front of the restaurant.
this food is like mush, asun is like one of my favorite meals and i’ve never had it served like this before they charge 16 for a spoon full of food. never again i normally go to FABS and they never disappoint and the meat is tender and actual pieces and it’s 11.99 for more food i would never recommend this place i moved close by and decided to try it and i regret that decision. i REPEAT DO NOT order the ASUN the other items might be good just not this one they should take it from the menu ASAP!!!!
Love this place & the hospitality

2.18.24 edit:
(down from 5 stars to 3; 5th time here)
I'm not sure what happened but a few things were extremely off today and I'll say it started with the service.
1. It was cold; many people kept their outerwear on as they were eating. I had to put my scarf and mittens on as we waited for our food.
2. We ordered goat pepper soup, server brings it out with other parts of our order on the same tray but takes the pepper soup to another table. When I mentioned it, he insults my intelligence and declares that no soup came out even though we saw it.
Dele proceeds to ask/beg "Why we just can't manage with the goat stew that he brought instead because they were so busy today and it would take too long to bring the soup"
Why not just tell us that when we ordered and we could have elected to change our order to something else ?
3. We were never offered even water to drink. Thankfully we brought our own bottle.
4. The side bar area which is actually quite beautifully decorated and has a nice vibe was completely empty; yet music from there was blasting into the dining area when there was already music playing in the dining area. I asked Dele to fix this and he did. Shortly after, YouTube comes on the one remaining sound system and for 5 minutes I guess everyone was too busy to fix it until I had to again ask for it to be switched back to ambient entertainment.
5. For $15 it is highway robbery to charge for 2 small pieces of fish see the pic and red pepper stew. Squirrel Hill rent be damned. This is NOT ok. Serving sizes in general need to be reconsidered. This has been true since our first order.
6. No one came to ask us how our food was. Not once.
7. Table had hardened and dried food from a previous order. I used a limited supply of napkins to cover this and move past it. One problem there were only 2 or 3 napkins now left for our meal. Cake napkins, not dinner napkins. When I looked around to see if we could borrow from another table... There were no napkins anywhere.
8. Women's bathroom had only paper towel above the toilet for use and hardly any soap.
9. Dele was bold enough to declare he preferred only a cash tip but pre-selected 20% on the machine that processed my card.
10. I love our West African family too much to not leave this honest review because I KNOW we can do better.
So please DO BETTER
I wanted to preface this by saying: We've really enjoyed their food in the past. We've also eaten at their Squirrel Hill location a few times. While the service was a bit crass and wasn't something to write home about, their food has always kept us coming back for more.
So it's really unfortunate that I'm leaving this review.
We ordered pick up via phone since their online web form wasn't working. The man on the phone told us that the food will be ready in 30 minutes - which is pretty standard for takeout
More than 30 minutes - my partner and I drive to pick up the food. We were then told that they JUST started cooking our order when I arrived and would need to wait another 30 minutes. The restaurant itself didn't look busy but we assumed they may have a bunch of back orders to deal with so we didn't mind driving back home to wait.
Another 30 minutes goes by and we drive back to pick up our order. Lo and behold - they tells us our food still isn't ready and would need to wait another 30 minutes.
At that point we were pretty hungry and was extremely disappointed on how they handled our order. We ended up cancelling and ordered somewhere else with more reliable service and quality.
The recent reviews for this place tracks. Their service has gone downhill - which sucks because we've always liked eating their food.
Decent food. I've only tried a few African spots in Pittsburgh, and this has been on the less delicious side. Still, it was very decent food. And, many of the food items were unique, so it's nice to have spots like this in the area. I ordered the beef meat pie, puff puff (3 of them), and akara bean 'cake.'
My favorite of the items were the delicious puff puffs. If you want a nice, chewy, donut-like snack, then this is the food for you. It was not too oily and very cheap, at a dollar for each of the dough balls. The inside as fluffy. Not too flavorful. I would have enjoyed it more with a dusting of sugar; then, it would serve as a nice dessert.
The Akara was interesting. It seemed to have little bits of vegetables included within this bean cake. I was surprised by the level of spice and flavor included in this small patty. It was on the greasier side as well, but also quite inexpensive at just $1.50.
Finally, the meat pie was not very good. It was thick in breading and extremely dry. Not just the breading was dry, but the meat itself was as well. It was not very flavorful but did have a little bit of vegetables included as well. Small portion size for the price.
All in all, I was not the biggest fan of the food. The portions were quite food and dry, and the flavors were not particularly good. I have not tried many African foods, but there are much better places in Pittsburgh. Definitely try Fabs, it's got similar food but much better quality.
Beautiful spice level... everything was delicious! We had spicy cow foot, snails, banga, and eforiro with fufu to sop up the tasty gravies and all of it washed down with some cold Nigerian beers, Star and Gulder. One of the most flavorful, contenting meals ive had in PGH
Omgness! Everything we ordered was amazing. The staff was very friendly and helpful with the menu, even offered a sample of the soups. I can't wait to try everything else on the menu. I also recommend the jungle juice, you can get it with or without alcohol. I will definitely be back soon ????
We checked out this place last night. I've never had Nigerian food before, and it was fantastic. The waiter was very helpful, and introduced us to fufu and two different soups to eat with it. Definitely will be back to try more of the menu.
