Best WLM Reviews
The atmosphere & service was fine, which is the only reason it got 2 stars instead of 1. Quaint spot. I typically avoid restaurants when there is NO ONE there during a busy season & this was Memorial Day weekend so I should have skipped it but we wanted less crowds for our 4yo autistic grandson.
SKIP IT! The food is overpriced, attempt at gourmet flare. Flat beignets with almost no powdered sugar, FAR from New Orleans style. Shrimp and grits....that's it! Shrimp were too light in color, barely pink, cheese grits with horrible cheese & a cheese whiz sauce drizzled over it. Grandson got a cheeseburger and immediately spit it out; looked like some type of shredded cheese on it. Husband ordered the gumbo, barely meaty & the broth was not good. Sigh...just find somewhere else to eat. $105 later & we settled for $30 on Whataburger - much better!!
Probably one of the worst restaurants I’ve been to. Customer service was horrible, food took almost 30+ min to come out and the waitress looked like she was overly exhausted to hung over. She took our orders, left for a long time and never came back out to check on us. We asked for a fork after our food arrived and she never came out with one. There was another waiter cleaning a table next to us. We proceeded to ask him for a fork and he looked at the table he was cleaning to see if there was a set unused or available and there wasn’t so he went to the kitchen. Like srly? Why are you even looking at the table you’re currently cleaning to see if there would be a set sitting around?
We checked out and it took her almost 20 mins to come back with our change and she also gave my friend the wrong change and tripped herself $8.00 but we didn’t realized it until we left but didn’t want to go back because it might take another 20+ min to get that $8.00 and we were on a time crunch.
Food was very bland and didn’t look appealing at all and overly expensive for the quality and quantity. I recommend skipping this place if you’re in the area.
As a vacationer with lots of options to pick from, I’m glad we picked this place! My husband and I both got the chicken fried chicken lunch special and it was exactly what I was craving lol. My daughter had the kids chicken fingers and fries and enjoyed it. Portion size was perfect for lunch and the price was reasonable. Our server was super friendly and the atmosphere is nice.
We had a wonderful wedding reception dinner at 790 on August 26th. Christine and the 790 staff handled EVERYTHING! My daughter and I dropped of the decorations for The Magnolia Room the morning of wedding day and they handled the rest. Brought my vision of the room to life! The food was delicious and my ~50 guests raved!! They even accommodated my niece's special dietary needs. ❤️ No one left hungry from our 2-hr private buffet. Our 2 dedicated servers and bartender Kyle saw to our every need throughout the evening. My husband and I will dine at 790 at last 1 night every every Destin visit from now on!
Kudos ???????? ???????????????????????? Thanks 790 for making our event special!????
Sorry! I didn't get any pictures of our beautifully set buffet. I was tired and starving. It had been a long day for me.????
Other than very good service, this was not a good experience. The food is mediocre at best but priced like a high end restaurant. A shrimp po boy for $18.95 with barely any lettuce, no sauce other than two small tubs of tarter and cocktail sauce on the side and steak fries is very pricey! They were out of a couple side dishes listed on the menu which left very few side item choices. My husband had a grouper sandwich that was served on a regular hamburger bun and a side of steak fries for $26!!! Would not recommend this place as there are so many other better establishments about 3 miles down the road.
We stopped in to 790 Restaurant for some drinks. Service at the bar was good and the drinks tasted great. We did not order food but the atmosphere was very nice.
Great food and loved talking to the owner and staff! Very bright atmosphere, very clean! Well worth the $$. The grouper avocado salad and chicken salad on avocado were excellent and the desserts look amazing!! Ken was our server and he was very efficient and personable! I love finding diamonds like this (being local) to bring guests from out of town to!
We stopped in for dinner Tuesday, after Labor Day Weekend. The decor is bright, inviting and whst you would expect of a restaurant near the beach. The board at the entrance showed a filet mignon and tortellini special for $25. When my wife ordered it, our waiter replied, "I think he us thawing the steak out, let me check." He returned to tell us that it wasn't on the menu. We ordered the shrimp po-boy and fried grouper sandwich. The menu showed that a standard side was thick-cut steak fries. We both opted for those. When the food arrived, we were pleased to see a generous portion of the shrimp and the grouper on our sandwiches. The fries, while well cooked and seasoned, we're not thick-cut steak fries. The food was good. It should have been better.
I think this restaurant has a lot of potential. They need to run a bit tighter ship and do a bit of training with the wait staff.
