This place had excellent service and the food was good as well. The scones and the cheese burger soup were excellent. The suckers in the little store are tasty ????
If you're in Vernal and want a little taste of the west, this is the place. The food here is hearty, and the menu offers a lot of options you'd find out on the trail or at a campground. I had the Porky Steak, and it was an honest/no frills dish with lots included. I'd recommend trying the scones, and the vegetable soup wasn't too bad either! Another great aspect about this place is the gift shop that's attached to the restaurant. This shop offers a variety of stuff you can pick up to remember your trip, and it seems they specialize in uniquely flavored suckers that kids would be super into. This isn't the fanciest place you'll visit in town, but it's worth a stop.
This place is great, cool gift shop, and the food is great!!! Really good to work with you if you’re gluten free. You got to get the porky steak, it is something else. Me and my wife were impressed. Most meals come with a salad, soup, choice of potato, vegetable, and a scone. You can’t beat this meal for what you get for the price. Must try
Friendly service. Great food. Nice atmosphere. Not too noisy, can have a conversation and visit with people while enjoying a great meal. Reasonable prices. Definitely a do again restaurant.
2nd visit- trout, pork stake, chocolate Death. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Crowded but could still have a conversation with my wife.
We are new to living in Vernal and slowly getting around to all the different restaurants in town. This is one I would go to again and had great food. Not only that the ambiance was very "Vernal". If you are a tourist visiting this is a great choice with options for everyone. They also have a fantastic souvenir shop that is better than the dinosaur museums or the heritage museum in town in my opinion. If you want a fun, nice, authentic Vernal dining experience I don't think you can find better in town.
Food is great, decent prices, great atmosphere. Good service. The only thing that missed the mark was the server not clearing plates from the table making it kinda tight and cramped. Otherwise definitely worth the stop.
Not a steakhouse & no beer. Okay, I am not leaving fewer stars rating because I personally blame myself for not doing more research. I saw a picture of a huge prime rib and some rave reviews, and it was one of the three steakhouses listed in town. I have had mixed results at Valley Steakhouse, so I probably won't eat there again, but the nice steakhouse downtown has always delivered consistently good food.
This evening I decided to give 7/11 a shot. The server was very nice, and I had a decent salad and decent cream of mushroom soup and decent chicken wings as a starter. For my entree, I had the ribeye medium rare with mashed potatoes and a little bowl of mixed vegetables on the side.
The steak was pan-fried, and lacked flavor, it was thin, and like the rest of the food, it was kind of a cross between Golden Corral and Cracker Barrel. The restaurant is a locals diner, and if I judge it from that perspective, it earned four or five stars, which I gave. As a steakhouse where a guy with a couple bucks can get an excellent steak and a beer? Absolutely not, it would have earned a 2. I know how important reviews and ratings are though, so I am not going to mess over a restaurant because I misunderstood the type of restaurant and quality that it is.
Another positive thing, even though my steak did not have flavor, it was cooked to the perfect temperature! Yet another positive thing, the fried bread, I think called a scone, was very good, I suggest eating it while it is hot!
My future steak dinners in Vernal will be at Swain's, At least until I get a little bit older and no longer like the food I eat to have flavor. Lol
Picked this restaurant because of the reviews. Hubby had 12 oz hamburger steak with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy and veggies. I had the trout and fries. Everything was delicious except the trout was dry. They offered to get me something else, and I declined. They took the fish off of my bill. Our meals came with a cup of soup (veggie was overflowing with veggies and cream chicken soup. The cream chicken couldn't be better. Highly recommend), salad, and scones (scones were hot and delicious).service was superb and the restaurant was very clean. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! Prices were very reasonable
