Impressive bridge with an amazing view all around, great for photography and shoots, but as a pedestrian it isn’t fun. Cars are rushing by and there is no option to cross from one side to the other. Feels pretty hostile even though it could be an amazing walking path
A bit of a bummer that this is what grand public projects amount to these days. Subject matter (puny la river) is framed by rushing cars. Somewhat hostile to the pedestrian. Lipstick on a pig. With the relatively open Ariel space in the area I would’ve suggested going up vs out and ornate vs austere
Crossed over the new bridge last night. It is really amazing.
What an awesome upgrade to the Arts District neighborhood.
Photographers were out taking photos, cars crossing and people walking even late at night.
The city did a great job on this modern architecture.
Crossing back over towards the downtown it looks like a spectacular bejeweled crown.
I was lucky enough to visit the old 6th Street Viaduct many years ago and this new one during its opening weekend.
I appreciate very much that this new bridge has great separated, wide paths for walkers and cyclists; but let's be honest there is still a lot of work to do, this bridge alone won't make LA more walkable or bikable. It requires a lot of work to even change the look of this area, which still feels very much industrial and just a path to the Arts District, not a place to stay.
Very beautiful bridge that may not be the same as the old one but personally I think it's a worthy replacement. Walking it or driving it west bound towards the city around sunset is the best way to experience it as the sun setting really adds to the experience. More is still being added to the bridge and surrounding area but structurally it is complete. Would definitely recommend checking out as it really adds to the LA skyline.
Beautiful bridge, even better at night, I took a video of the whole bride in the daytime.
A car DOMINATED bridge.
Beautiful and iconic bridge... with one main problem... there is more space for cars than for people. All the times I been are always empty, so it would be much better it there was only one lane per way insted of 2. That space could be used to put food stands or something attractive so there is more to do in the bridge. A good example would be like santa monica Pier experience, but in a bridge. Second recommendation: Speed bumps! People drive recklessly here, making it very dangerous for cyclists. Has a lot of potential. Hopefully, they will maintain this bridge well, or unfortunately, it will be a homeless favorite spot.
Edit 09/15/2023: The biggest gripe now is to find parking... (we wish it had public parking) It seems that we now often see less reckless drivers because lots of police are patrolling the area (just put speedbumps, come on!). Wish there was more to do in the bridge besides taking a walk.
Intro aerial photography? This is an AMAZING spot. There is no geofencing in the moment, and you can capture amazing moments, especially if you are a tourist. However, be careful and yield to LAX's airplanes. Since they fly quite close here, we recommend not going higher than 300ft. Watch out with RC interference. Have fun finding parking!
The same old same! People partying heavily with no rules!! They blew those fireworks at 11 PM and apparently for no specific reason! Just because they can!!! Hooray hooray! Bravo!
