Lied about rates. Stated 2$ for 20 minutes. They would not take discover. I was having a medical problem and they would not let me leave, despite entering after about 15 minutes and turning around. They refused to call responders and police when I requested them to do so for assistance. They said they would call security, and I asked them to please do so. They did not call security. I did not have signal in parking garage underground to dial out. The parking attendant forced my partner to pay 12$ to exit. Could have died here over 12$, it really is insane. Do not use this garage. They will violate your property and personal rights. I will never return, and will be sure to tell my friends the same. Been living in San Jose for 40 years and have never experienced such nonsense. If you have an emergency and do not have exact change. Or they don't accept your card, you don't have many options. I suppose you can try to make it out on foot and call 911, as they won't do it for you. Maybe you can drive through the gate and escape.
I honestly thought that businesses like this will be honest! There was no notice to say pay when you leave! It pains me because I am a single mom with a single income who to make the last Saturday exciting for my kids by taking them to the museum. Every little helps! I cant believe I was charged twice because I am a conscientious person and chose to do what is right all the time. Moreover, I could have parked in a cheaper garage for $5! I called and was told its my fault to pay when I got to the parking garage and would not get a refund! Wow! Unbelievable.
I parked on a Thursday night at 5:22pm. The sign said parking was $6 for the night after 6pm. Before 6pm, the rates were posted as $1.25/15 min. I left at 9:45 pm and I expected to pay for three 15 minute periods plus $6 for the rest of the night--a total of $9.75. Instead I was shocked to be billed $24 upon checkout! The attendant told me the rate continued at $1.25/15 minutes for the whole night if I checked in before 6pm. Ridiculous! He pointed to a sign way off to the side that I'm sure nobody sees. Terribly unfair and misleading business practice! I won't ever park there again.
Parked here at 6pm on a Sunday until around 10pm with a parking fee of $12 which was fine. Their parking ticket machines did NOT accept cards - only cash. Great, so I got some $20 bills from a nearby Wells Fargo ATM. Tried to insert the cash at the ticket machine but it didn't accept 20s. Great, so now I was stuck at this lot, which also had disabled elevator access (from the lower parking garage to lobby) at this hour. Awesome, so I had to walk all the way up to the lobby through the very shady stairway. Talked to one of the employees and they said I needed $12 in EXACT bills ($10 bills and $1 bills). Cool! They said there is no way to make change in the 50 West building itself and the nearest place for me to get change was at a 7-Eleven that was a 7 minute walk away from the place, at almost midnight hours mind you (not the safest feeling ever). So I walked all the way to 7-Eleven and back to the garage just to get the exact change.
This entire ordeal took about 30+ minutes just for me to get out of this parking lot. It puzzles me that they would even allow visitors to park here under these circumstances.
DO NOT PARK IN THIS GARAGE!!
My experience was exactly the same as Ryo’s review. Unbelievably deceitful and irresponsible management of this parking facility. The only difference is that I was trapped in the garage without the right cash at the same time as another victim and he was kind enough to give me the single dollar I needed to get out of there.
There was no warning that EXACT change is needed BEFORE you go in or BEFORE you walk out to your destination. Obviously armed with information I would have planned ahead or simply not parked there.
This is a giant THANK YOU to the gentleman who gave me the dollar and spared me Ryo’s agony. There are still good people in the world.
Other reviews mention exact change cash only - this at least seems to be fixed. Parked here and saw 3 ways out for pedestrians - out of service elevators, a stairway to a locked door, and a stairway to a door that is locked on the outside. The only way back in is on the car ramp.
Terrible garage. The instructions for payment were very unclear. Ended up having to pay twice because the machine took my paid ticket and didn't let me through. I pressed the assistance number and nothing happened and there was as well nobody in the office to help.
No staff on the weekends, so when their terrible machines won’t take your parking ticket, you get yelled at by the security people for asking for help, then wait around for half an hour before they’ll let you out
