This is a poorly managed deck that is a hazard to anyone near it.
Firstly, the deck has 4 ticket gates in total. Half of the time there is only 1 gate letting people into the deck and 1 letting people out of the deck. This creates a buildup of traffic both in the deck and in the streets that leads to the two entrances to the deck.
Secondly, the indicator lights were a waste of money and resources that could have been used for another project to make the deck more convenient for visitors. The lights are supposed to show green when a spot is available, but red when a car is in that spot. I've seen plenty of spots that had a vehicle in them, but the light still showed green.
Lastly, nothing is done about larger vehicles or vehicles with carriers on the trunk parking on the ramps. These vehicles turn the up and down ramps into a single lane because they block one lane with the end of their vehicle.
UAB is supposed to be the best hospital in the state. You would think that the deck would be a lot more functional than what it is especially since the price for parking is so high. DO BETTER UAB!
Parking deck is easily accessible. They also have lights above each parking space so you can look ahead for an empty space. The red light shows someone is parked there and the green light shows parking space is available. Very convenient and helpful.
Safe and clean. Their ticket reader where you pay to leave was malfunctioning so it took a minute to get out, but otherwise it's a great place to park
My husband has been at UAB since our car accident on December 4,2023 I have had to use the parking deck so many times, It’s hard to find a close spot but am thankful that the hospital has somewhere for visitors to park
Very narrow lanes and parking spots are short, so if you have a long car, someone turning may hit your back side! I appreciated the red/green lites indicating empty parking. Pretty expensive, stayed 1.5 hrs and paid $12. Won't go there again if I can help it! The skyline is pretty from the 5th floor.
Always crowded but empty spots roped off on several floors and has been for over a year now that I know. Don't ever try to leave around 3 or 4 bc you will wait 30+ minutes just to get out and your paid parking ticket expires before you can even get there (you only have 20 min after paying before it expires) so massive back up to the 4th floor!!! Of course by the time we FINALLY saw the exit, they raised the bar and let everyone go, with or without a paid ticket, which seems to be their solution to the problem...????
Only dislike one thing is the lady inside driving the golf cart she is very rude and unprofessional. She told my daughter with cancer what do I look like a taxi and laughed. I could say more but I got more respect than that.
Trendy crowd, live music, open bar. Everything you never knew you wanted in a parking deck. Watch out for the hidden police if you're partaking in libations.
