Best WLM Reviews
I rarely give a negative review, and I was so terribly disappointed with my recent visit here. To begin, I had enjoyed a wonderful experience at this place about 10 years ago. Food was great, cozy, homey feel, mature & friendly service, welcoming folks, good cold beer. And everytime since then, that I am passing through Mississippi on I-55, I think about this place. It is off the beaten path on Scenic Route 333, which is a beautiful drive in the daylight hours. If you ever have the time and opportunity, take the Scenic 333 around Grenada Lake! This restaurant is not a convenient or quick hop-off from I-55, but I had such wonderful memories from my previous visit a decade ago. Hubs & I are passing through on our travels & I thought he should experience all the wonderful things I had spoken about the place. Disappointing. The atmosphere has been upgraded, which is nice. It appears they're trying to appeal to an upscale crowd, not necessarily the fisherman coming right off the lake. Stepping into the front door, there sat a very aged, pretty little lady with a big smile to welcome us inside. Perhaps she's the owner of the establishment, or maybe she's a permanent fixture there. But delightful! & she was the extent of our delightful experience. The rest was pitiful. All the servers I saw were spring chicks with absolutely no idea, care or concern about customer service, nor how to properly serve a table. Fried green tomatoes as appetizer required almost 30 minutes to arrive & it was garnished with nothing. Had to ask for ranch. Had to ask for catsup. Had to ask for hot sauce. Had to ask for silverware. Was advised we could get slaw & salad at the salad bar.... slaw with runny, milky, mayo dressing; iceberg lettuce, croutons, bacon bits, your choice of ranch, Italian or 1000 island. The salad bar was pretty sad, to say the least. Hubs ordered a shrimp poboy that came on a huge hefty hoagie bun, kinda looked like Gambino bread, which was a huge plus, until he opened this foot-long bun to find only 5 medium sized fried shrimp inside. It was dressed appropriately with lettuce shred, tomato & mayo. I ordered the 1/2 pound cajun shrimp boil. Please don't call it "cajun", you can't call it "low country boil" either, when there is absolutely no evidence you have used spice, not even a dash of cayenne. At that point, it is just simply "shrimp boil". Anyway, my shrimp were also tiny, most likely medium variety & terribly overcooked. Their shells were peeling off & the meat was like rubber with no flavor. My red potatoes were undercooked, hard in the center, requiring a knife. My corn on the cob, overcooked & without flavor.... it might have been previously boiled & subsequently microwaved. While watching other mature & senior couples leave half their food still plated, all with disappointment looks on their faces, we also decided it was a bust, left our food, paid a very-inflated, very-overrated price for our food & unfortunately left our server with a meager tip... I hate not tipping well, but this is the dilemma.... there are 4 young folks working the floor & spending their time not working, not attending to their customers, but rather laughing, joking & hashing out their plans for a Friday night after work, all visible & audible to the 6 tables full of hungry, thirsty patrons, who are all visibly losing their patience with the situation, as evidenced by the scowls on their faces & the big sighs. And even after I witnessed an older gentleman verbally express his disdain with the poor service & lengthy wait & subsequently his incorrect order served to him, the young man serving him simply shrugged his shoulders & made absolutely no effort at service recovery or damage control. Truthfully, I felt that same vibe from every server present this particular evening. Someone who cares about the longevity & prosperity & reputation of this quaint little place needs to do something immediately about the poor service both on the floor & from the kitchen. So sad, sad, sad.
We dropped in after church today. We both got the buffet. Disappointed to say the least. Food was bland. Salad bar a joke. The strawberry shortcake was an insult less than half inch square. The size you would feed a small child. My husband could not even chew the ham it was so tough. Chicken dressing had no flavor.
This used to be a good place to eat . They need to start doing real hone cooking with people who know how to cook.
Server was ok. I left her a small tip and that was for being polite.
Disappointed ????
I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but I hope it keeps someone else from making the same mistake. Dirty buffet bar with food left too long.Watermelon slices in the ranch dressing. Macaroni and cheese looked horrible, broccoli casserole would scoop out as a cold lump. Cold greasy food. Cornbread was so dry I had to drink water to get it down. Fried catfish not done. I would have been embarrassed to claim this as my business. This was the worse buffet I have ever gone to in my life. We paid $40 for my husband and I to eat this garbage. If we weren’t with a group, we would have turned around and left.
We couldn't have been happier than dining at the 333 Restaurant close to Grenada Lake. The food was excellent and cocktails refreshing after enjoying a drive through the Scenic 333 Loop getting there. Ordered some beignets to go for coffee on the road for the next morning!
I had the meatloaf with turnip greens and mashed potatoes. All was very good. However the meatloaf was not very warm. Do not like that they charge .79 cents for water and add a tip for party’s of 6 or more.
The place is a little run down, it's the old Green Door. The waitress I had was polite and checked in pretty often. I ordered their catfish and for a special it took an extremely long time. The catfish tasted like dish soap, it was aweful. My wife ordered gouda mashed potatoes and immediately you could tell that the potatoes came from a box. And they didn't hesitate to charge me plenty for this aweful meal. When I ordered my replacement catfish I had to wait for it be cooked again, I wanted to give it a second chance but it was the same result. Terrible! Save your money and go to Captain Ds, fast food is better than this food amd way less expensive.
Diabetic hospital food at best. Roll and tea was good. Instant mashed potatoes were served at this place!! I felt disappointed in myself for driving there, eating, leaving, and currently in the Wendy’s line for nuggets. Bland!! How is spicy shrimp blander than the cocktail they serve.
This was once our favorite “go to” restaurants in Grenada been patronizing over 12yrs came in tonight my husband ordered a hamburger Steak with mash potatoes but here’s the punch line no gravy came with hamburger steak it was a mere hamburger patty; they informed us iits a $1 for onions, $1 for mushrooms and a $1 for gravy!????????
Positive note; our waitress was phenomenal, prompt and courteous! We probably won’t be back!
