Saw great reviews about the owners being great and good awesome. Called in a to go order at lunch. Got the gyro. While calling in the person I spoke to was extremely short and rude. Got there to pick up my food. Again super rude. Asked for an extra side of Tzatziki the told the cook it’s for “her” which instantly irritates me because it’s so impersonal. The owner a ted irritated I was there because he was taking to the regulars. My gyro… below average at best… I was hungry so I ate it. The pasta salad. Not an ounce of flavor.. seriously none! I work in Durango and love to support the restaurants.. this place was the worst $12.50 I’ve ever spent.
Friendly service. I ordered the roast beef, it was yummy. Probably the best Au Jus I've ever had, it actually had flavor besides just salty brown water. All seat inside are hightops, but outside, they have picnic like tables.
Great little lunch shop. It has a very skater vibe. The sandwiches were good. We had the bologna and the south west. Got the sense there were a lot of regulars and the staff seemed like they were friends with everyone. Small, so if you have a big crowd it might be tight. Would go back.
Great little place for a sandwich. Good music and the live edge tables give a enjoyable atmosphere to hangout. I got The Gobbler and I couldn't help but gobble it up. Pun intended. I thought the sandwich was a little small compared to other I saw, but it filled me up. The clam chowder was rich also. Worth the money! Will come back

Should you get sandwiches here for the Durango-Silverton train ride the next day?
Well maybe, but probably not.
The fresh sandwiches are great. Especially when hot and paired with a tasty beverage. The staff will box the sandwiches with sauces on the side to help make them more portable.
So its the next day, you found a way to keep the sandwich cold and now you're hungry. You bust it and try your best to dress it with the sauces or decide not to. The sandwiches are big, so the bites are big as well. The bread is fairly dense to hold up to the meat juices and sauces. Sadly, it still became a cold day old sandwich. Makes sense. Cold dense bread isn't bad, but it's not good. The sauce added a layer of flavor, but didn't help the bread and the meat seemed to have dried out a little as well. So maybe don't do the sauces on the side? That said Silverton is kind of boring unless you're shopping. So just to have something to do, you're more than likely going to go to a restaurant there anyway.
So my suggestion is... Dear 2nd Deli and Spirits, please open a 12th Deli and Spirits in Silverton. Cheers!

Colin and his staff are THE BEST! By far, the friendliest we have experienced in Durango. We love the food and the atmosphere. They make it fun to be there and accommodate everyone! We have thoroughly enjoyed coming here on our yearly visits. The burger is a MUST!
Locals spot easy to make friends and grind on the best Pastrami sandwiches In Durango. Burger is awesome with the pasta side dish. Philly cheese steak - forgettabout it! so good. Taste ColoRADo local beers and cocktails.
The owner crew make the vibe fun! Home made quality with good variety on the menu. Enjoy!
