Best WLM Reviews
I made a last minute reservation because i was in the area and a friend of mine told me that they had a wonderful experience when they went in.
When i walked in the host was welcoming and friendly and i was sat right away.
My waiter failed to introduce himself dropped off the menus , gave me a couple minutes to look over the menus.
When he came back, i ordered the you're turning violet specialty cocktail, some raw and cooked oysters and the braised rabbit thigh dish and when the drink came and i tried it, it was super acidic so i put it to the side as it wasn't to my liking.
I enjoyed the raw oysters over the cooked ones but that's just a taste reference.
My rabbit dish was good except for the braised rabbit thigh being super dry so i ate the vegetables and the agnolotti pasta around it and left the rabbit thigh on the plat. Waiter came back and took the plate away and didn't even inquire as to why i didn't eat the rabbit thigh and still didn't touch my drink.
He came back and ask if i wanted dessert and i ordered the cheesecake. He filled my water glass up and spilled water on the table and didn't bother to clean it up. I enjoyed the dessert and paid my bill and left.
I really do think that the service could've been better. It's part of restaurant service to insure that the customer is enjoying their meal. Walk up to the table without introducing yourself and didn't inquire as to why i didn't drink the cocktail nor eat the rabbit thigh. On top of that spilling water on the table and not wipe it off.
I go to Mt Dora frequently and am very familiar with the restaurants in the historic downtown. There is a difference between great food and fine dining. You can be eating great food on the sidewalk from a food truck but that is not fine dining.
There are probably 5 fine dining restaurants in the historic district. 1921 is possibly tied for first place as the best. The food is Michelin Star, service is pro, wine list is top shelf, and cocktails are invovative.
Dress classy, get the meal and drink you want and expect a terrific experience. This place is great!
A true hidden gem!
We stopped on our way out of Orlando and it was well worth the detour. It was one of the few places where you take your first bite of food, and have to close your eyes because of how well they prepared the food. (We ordered the lamb shank & Pork Rib Eye.) My husband claims that the place had to be doing some type of sorcery....
The surrounding area is an adorable small town. Perfect for walking after dinner.
My wife and I went to 1921 for brunch. I had an Old Fashioned Cocktail along with some Quail Poppers and the Prime Rib Sandwich.
The Old Fashioned and the Sandwich were excellent. The Quail was a little dry, but still pretty good.
My wife got the Waygu Burger which was really good as well.
This place never disappoints.
We were in Mount Dora for my girlfriends birthday and decided to give 1921 a shot. Ambiance was pretty nice inside as it was a well put together restaurant. The menu is limited with few options to choose. One of the dishes we ordered had a hair in it… we found both of our meals to be lacking in flavor OR way too much flavor. It seemed as if the chefs were putting more effort into the appearance rather than the taste. Very pricy considering we didn’t like our meals. Wouldn’t recommend coming here.
Ignore any bad reviews!! This place is fantastic! I LOVVVEDDD it. Out waitress Ani (pronounced Uhh-nii) was so accommodating. We had the oysters with chorizo, wish I had ordered more! The carpaccio octopus was really good as well. Plus my daughter had the cheese pizza, even that was amazing. I'd recommend doing appetizers and choosing your dish if you are in a big group, everything was amazing!
My fiancé surprised me with a reservation at this restaurant. It did not disappoint. Cory was our waitor and the service was phenomenal and the food was even better!
App- Pork Belly
Dinner- lamb and beef cheek
Dessert- cheesecake!
If you do not like fancy food or are a peaky eater, this place is not for you!
I had the goat cheese, strawberry, candied pecan salad with strawberry vinaigrette: the cheese was insipide, the strawberries had no taste, the candied pecans had too much cinnamon and the vinaigrette was far too peppery!
The three others in my party took the waygu burger with fries… the thirty dollar burger was ok but the fries were too spicy (only on my husband’s plate!)… when we told the waitress the fries were too spicy, she just smiled…
The decor is beautiful and the restrooms were awesome!
