I like very mush the train in this 181 station. It goes very fast, and I go to many places in this city new york on the iron horse. My country take much time to get firewood and other hunting supplies.
25 crossover stairs and not one effort for ADA complaince. Three exits. Two accessed via elevator and escalator and one via a long tunnel.
If you’re skipping a gym and need to get a good workout come here. Escalator is under repair and I almost died while walking up the stairs ????
But there is some room for improvements on that station
As someone who grew up in the neighborhood I can honestly say it's one of the worst stations in the entire city. It needs maintenance and attention that it hasn't had in years.
And yes, the escalator is STILL down.
This hole in the ground and I mean that literally has got to be the farthest you will walk down stairs to catch the train in NYC. It is a true workout and the only counter argument that the MTA only cares about Manhattan stations. Cause the elevators are sometimey in terms of service and if a station ever needed escalator service this is the one.
On the far end of the station the escalators are usually broken or being repaired. They also smells of urine . It definitely needs some attention and cleaning.
There is definitely room for improvement.
Fairly clean but the escalator has been not running for soooo long. Not ideal for someone who is not physically able.
