The last time I had Thai food was down by the Riverside in Durham which is a major sized high class restaurant. This Thai takeaway here is just as good, the food is very spicy but that's how Thai food is traditionally and I would certainly recommend starter, main course with coconut rice. I could not pronounce the other two dishes but I'd say the entire menu would be just as tremendous. It was served in under 10 minutes.
Turned off the A1 en route to another destination to get here in Consett. Unassuming shop front Not a place you’d expect to find some of the best Thai food in a 50 mile radius or further. Very good online ordering system. If you like spicy dishes, choose items with the chilli symbol. Warning: this is Bangkok spicy - not British spicy. We had papaya salad, deep fried fish, 2 curries and a noodle. All were superb. Keep it 1Thai. Don’t change anything. Consett - you are so lucky.
After a long day I tried 1 Thai at 6pm last night when the earliest I could order elsewhere was nearly 10pm.
Extremely Impressed with the swiftness and quality and value of the meal (set meal for 2 with a couple of extras)

Just wasted £30 on some of the worst take out food I’ve ever had. Starter fish cakes were burned black and didn’t even taste like fish, had a rubbery texture. chicken skewers dry, all the sauces tased the same..like sugar, even the satay. The “sticky” rice was a solid block of uncooked rice wrapped in cling film. I could actually lift it out the tray and it stayed a solid square. Basil Chicken was chewy like an old boot. Bamboo shoots inedible like string, sauce tasted of sugar absolutely no spice. Sweetcorn fritters we’re just a tray of slightly burnt sweetcorn not even fritter shaped, just loose sweetcorn. Pad Thai also just tasted of sugar, no hint of tamarind or lime or any of the beautiful subtle Thai flavours. I can cook better Thai at home with packet mix. DO NOT WASTE YOU MONEY LIKE I DID. I’m having to cook dinner now for my whole family because this went STRAIGHT IN THE BIN!!!
Best Pad Gra Pow outside of Thailand. If I'm ever in the area again I'll definitely be ordering again!

First time ordering from 1 Thai and very impressed. All food was excellent and more than enough.
Quick and tasty Thai food. Reasonably.priced too. The spicy basil chicken fried rice was spicy!
