We chose 1-800 Shipping after comparing quotes from multiple companies for our family’s recent move from the east coast of the US to England. 1-800 Shipping was not the cheapest quote, but as in much of life, you get what you pay for, and we were not disappointed. Tom and his team provided great customer service throughout the process and were always extremely responsive. There were only two minor hiccups in the process, none of which were 1-800 Shipping’s fault: (1) we underestimated the amount of boxes and furniture we would ultimately take, but Tom provided an entirely fair revised quote for the final shipment; and (2) our container disappeared for a few weeks in UK Customs, but Tom somehow had it delivered across England the very next day after it finally cleared. All of the agents he contracted along the way, from the initial US pickup crew to the final UK delivery crew were outstanding. We wouldn’t hesitate to use 1-800 Shipping for our next international move.

We shipped our household goods from Seattle to Thailand without a hitch. The goods were beautifully packed and arrived without damage and were delivered inside our new home room by room. I highly recommend Tom for any international shipping. UPDATE: Since we had a reasonably good experience with Tom, we had no trouble recommending him to our friends and he offered $100 for every new account we sent him. So far we sent 4 of our friends to him which resulted in 3 container shipments to Thailand with one on hold until mid 2022 but guess what? He cannot find any of the records of my friends shipments (or it's too convenient not to remember) and refuses to pay the referral fees. Our friend whose shipment is on hold has been quite unhappy with the service so far and asked for a refund which was denied. He said no where on his documents does it say the $6000 is non-refundable but that is another story still in progress. Oh and one of our friends who shipped his entire household to Thailand had damage to some of his furnishings but Tom denied any wrongdoing saying it must have been the local carrier who transported the goods the 550 km from Bangkok to Udon Thani, or the port inspectors, or the operators of the secured warehouse where the goods were first unloaded. It seems everyone blames the other guy resulting in unpaid damages even when the goods were insured. One recent week Tom asked me in an email to keep sending clients to him and 2 weeks later when I asked him to pay past due referral fees he suggested we cut off our relationship since he doesn't need any more clients...and of course he still hasn't paid any referral fees! I have always thought that the character of any small business is a direct reflection of the character of the owner and the high regard I once held for 1800 Shipping has turned sour.

Hands down! Had more than one overseas shipping experiences with Tom for me and my friends whom I recommended Tom to them. Tom Jacob was very efficient and extremely customer-focused. He knew his stuff on transatlantic shipping. He responded to all our issues immediately, including a refusal on our part to use a local removal company in the UK with whom we'd had a prior bad experience. The company that eventually shipped our effects from the port in the South of England to Manchester in the North of England did a superb job. In Massachusetts (from where we relocated to the UK) Tom worked with M&M Moving and Storage Co, who also performed an excellent job of packing and moving our effects from Cambridge into their storage facility and several months later from their storage facility to the transatlantic container. M&M were also very responsive to concerns and potential issues. The move had been a worry for us because (1) we have had problems in the past and (2) this was not a company move but a personal one so we were not relying on long-standing Employer experience. We reviewed and rejected quite a number of companies before selecting 1-800shipping. In the event we were not disappointed. All our furniture, including antiques, ceramics, glass, and musical instruments arrived safely and according to the schedule we set after buying a new property in the UK. I've no hesitation in giving Tom and M&M 5 stars.

I recently made the move from the US to Spain. After speaking with several companies, 1-800 Shipping seemed to me the best combination of reliable and customer service oriented. There were other companies with similar, or even slightly better, pricing, but Tom was the only one who seemed generally invested in helping us get the best price and smoothest experience. The few bumps we encountered along the way Tom was eager to help with, and he explained in detail anything unfamiliar to me. As this was my first such move, that involved a lot of explaining. When the shipment arrived, everything was in order and undamaged. I cannot recommend this company highly enough.

Tom made my overseas move very smooth and easy and handled it as he would for his own family. We moved to another country and it was a chaotic time for us. Tom and I-800 Shipping were the best. From the beginning phone call to the final follow through we we were picking up our pallets at customs. They were professional and very helpful. I would highly recommend them. And one last thing - we shipped 3 pallets of Kitchen, Living room and bedrooms, Artwork, Pictures and China across the Atlantic.........Not one item was damaged. Unbelievable!!
