Best WLM Reviews
TL;DR - Looking for a quick and spicy Korean meal? Hwangso Gozip might tempt you with its budget-friendly lunch menu and dedicated smoking area. But for our dinner visit, the service was a fumble, the food lacked fire (except for one fiery dish!), and the overall experience fell short. So, unless you're in the immediate vicinity and crave affordability, there are tastier options.
Now, for the full debrief:
We walked in at 6 pm, hoping for a warm welcome and a side dish symphony. Sadly, the server informed us the side dishes were out of commission, leaving us a tad disappointed but still hungry. The good news? Our main dishes arrived swiftly. The bad news? The self-service/table service mystery kept us guessing. We politely requested utensils and discovered the napkins were MIA, too. At least they remembered the water!
Spicy, they promised. Spicy, I imagined. But the dishes, except for the chicken feet (those lived up to their fiery reputation!), played a lukewarm tune. The spicy squid, ironically, was a flavorless dud.
On the bright side, those budget-friendly lunch prices projected on the wall were tempting. If we lived nearby, a midday stop for a wallet-friendly bite might be worth a shot. But for this round, Hwangso Gozip didn't earn a repeat visit from us.
Bonus for smokers: There's a designated smoking area, so light up your taste buds with a spice if that's your jam. The place will also be blasting KPop songs in the background. So, there you have it. Hwangso Gozip: a mixed bag that left us wanting more spice (both literal and metaphorical). Choose wisely, fellow foodies!
We liked everything. Came for dinner and we actually order too much.
Order 국밥, 김치두부, 돈까스, and beer. Ramen was service. Everything tasted great and huge portions. Didn't need 김치두부. It was too much and could not finish.
Fantastic service. Friendly and quick. Served with smile.
Plenty of parking.
Would definitely comeback.
Their food and their services are the best!!! It’s our first time here. We ordered 3 dishes and thought that the portion would be small like other places but no!! The portion is perfect and we couldn’t finish it all. We love the stirred fry large intestines, you guys have to try it! The food are good and we were impressed by how the servers are so cute and so nice to us. They asked if everything was okay and checked on us often. It was my birthday so they gave us the Martinelli along with small gifts as well, I am appreciate it xD. This is 10/10 y’all.
Newly opened restaurant in Duluth. They have lunch starting at 11am and it's self service so you don't need to worry about tips. My food came not even 10min after ordering. Looks like they have lady's special on Tue and Thu, 1+1 soju on Wed, and birthday celebrating ????
Very clean and open.
Self service and I and my siblings are not great servers to each other(a joke of course).
Food was deeeeeelicious.
I had the spicy namyoung and la galbi.
Complimentary bone soup.
Loved it.
Noodle sauce tasted like retort pouch. Soup was too much oily. Kalbi was not bad.
My colleague had pork neck BBQ, and it was totally dried (not overcook, but taste like grilling twice)
Pretty solid place for some tonkatsu, bibim-naengmyun, or naengmyun for lunch. There are of course other options for lunch as well, like the spicy stir fried pork bulgogi which is what I tried as well. For the price and availability, I prefer going to this place as opposed to the put the door lines at Sambong Naengmyun easily. Try it, as this place has big tonkatsu and big portions for the price
Best Bulgogi I have ever had. The Tonkatsu was great as well. I'm not Korean so can only compare to other places I have eat in the Dallas/Ft. Worth and Austin area. If in Duluth, would definitely go back.
